Anybody's significant other unable to read a fuel gauge?

Seems most every time I get in my wife's Cherokee to drive somewhere the fuel gauge is on empty.

Happened again last night when we went to go to the movies. "Let's take mine" she says as I get ready to hop in my Wrangler. "I need to get gas".

Start up her vehicle and the dash lights up with a LOW FUEL warning. I started to say something and she blurts out that it just came on during her drive home from work.

Don't you look at the fuel gauge?, I asked. "I didn't" was her reply. Apparently the fuel gauge is a waste of space on the dash.

Anyone else experience the same type of behavior or am I the only lucky one?

Same with my wife, and she has a Cherokee as well.

I'm convinced my wife does it on purpose. There is no way her car can be out of gas everytime we need to take it instead of my Jeep. It just isn't statistically possible. I'm convinced she drives around the neighborhood until it's almost empty before coming home.

Her best fuel behavior is rather than filling up her 35 gallon tank she will stop with a half tank left to fill.

Ha! Mine is nearsighted and not farsighted. She thinks the tank needs to be filled once it hits just below half! We've been married 35 years and I still get a kick when the fuel warning alert chimes when I'm driving and she panics.

Story as old as time (or cars).. how women get their men to pump the gas. Last time it happened to me I pulled up to the pump and said ‘you better grab your coat, it’s pretty cold out’.

The story of my life with my wife. You guys have it easy. This has happened many times over the years and twice in one month.

When I was working, I was on 3rd shift and my wife was on 1st shift. We would pass each other in the morning. Me heading home, her heading into work. She would call me and say, I don't have enough fuel to get to work and I don't have enough time to stop and then need to switch vehicles with me so she could get to work on time. (it is a 40 mile commute.) I would get her car and then have to drive about 10 miles out of my way to get to the nearest gas station.

That is what I call down right fucking irritating. I just want to go home and go to bed, and I am 40 minutes out of my way because she drove the car home with the low fuel light on.

It is a good thing that she does that one thing....well.
