I’ve got a 2021 JLUR on order. Will be getting the Metalcloak 3.5” GC and 37” Trail Grapplers. Just curious if anyone regrets going with such a high negative offset? It’s really hard to tell just looking at pictures how much of the tire is actually sticking out. Jeep won’t be a daily but will spend plenty of time on road and hopefully as much off-road. Looking at the Fuel Covert Beadlocks and get the choice of either -15 or -38mm offset. I’m guessing the roughly 1” difference in width doesn’t really change much other then visual. Just looking for feedback. Thanks.

you may want to play around with this tool:
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wh...17X8.5ET-38&wcl=1.25in&fcl=2in&scl=2in&sr=0in

I plugged in stock (not shown) vs same tire size on an 8.5” wide wheel with your -38mm offset

The fender isn’t positioned correctly even for stock but with that combination of numbers it looks like it moves outwards about 3.5”

Will it look good comes down to what look are you after.

With a 0 mine stock out a good ways so I’m betting you add some to that and you’ll be out there

Itlll stick out about 4.5 inches roughly which is what youd want with a liftkit to keep your stability.

the 1 inch wider difference will only make it look good. Theres really no downside to it unless youre driving on gravel cuz now the rocks are flinging into your paint. Go -38s. I have 3.5inches of tire sticking out on my 2 inch lift and it isnt enough stance for me. Wish i had a bit more than a -12 offset.

Here's a 17x9 with -12mm offset wrapped in 38x13.5's. I also chopped all fenders and have high tuck aluminum fender liners. At full stuff, the top of the tire lightly contacts the upper portion of the liner, while leaving room to spare under the fender itself.

I don't regret going wide. It has put me in a pickle offroad once but I worked it out. I like the low COG and side to side stability the extra width gives me. I'm off camber a lot.

I like the looks of all those set ups, I guess I sounded like I was asking about looks but I was more looking for info on issues/problems. Drivability, severely increased wear on any of the front end components etc. I’m leaning towards the -38 offset wheels just don’t want to regret going that route and having to spend another huge pile of cash on the same wheels with the smaller offset.
