Hmmm, thought this was the 2019 steering thread. Had to scroll back up to the top of the page to make sure I wasn't mistaken.

When I look at mine next to a JL, I’m stoked that mine’s been paid off for 8 years now and there isn’t a single repair on it that I can’t do myself. Cheap to own. Paying house down fast and piling up the 401k.
Being paid off means nothing to me. After I paid off my Jeep (or any other car) I continue to make "payments" to my savings to put down on it's replacement. I do this because I know that vehicles depreciate in value will eventually need to be replaced. I'm not old enough to consider my current Jeep being my last (hopefully). My house payments and 401K are already on track for my goals for those two objectives.

Everyone has their own preferences. Whatever works for you that’s great you’re on track. I hate having bills. Debt free is how I like it. Dave Ramsey style.

Picked my 2019 JLUR on April 8, 2019, although it left the factory floor on Feb. 19, 2019. Was away and unable to pick up my JLUR at the dealership on its arrival. Only have 128 miles on it now. Reduced the tire pressure from 44 psi to 39 psi at the dealership before hitting the road. The steering is very accurate, responsive and has no dead spots at all, but there's a "very small", but noticeable, amount of wandering or drifting from side to side while traveling on the highway at 50-55 mph. Have kept speeds less than 55 mph to date during the break-in period. To further improve the steering, and possibly decrease the marginal level of drifting, I plan to further reduce the tire pressure down to 36 or 37 psi and observe. As other Jeep JL owners have noticed, a slight break-in period for the K02 tires may be warranted.

It may help, or may be wishful thinking. Sorry man. Join the rest of us waiting for a factory fix, or the growing population of others throwing parts at it. Hope you are one of the lucky ones.

I've lowered the pressure on my tires down to 34 and I still have the wandering. I only get steering wobble when going over a bridge or something. It's unbelievable how you can buy a new vehicle and have to deal with something like this.

That's just par for the course for any Wrangler, more for the two doors than the unlimiteds.

Okay just pick up my 2019 J L U R this afternoon. With the help of her going on here the first thing I did was check the tire pressure, it was at 41 PSI from the dealer I lowered 237 before taking the test drive to make sure the steering was okay before taking possession of the vehicle once and for all. I took it down the roadway 60, 70 even up to 80 miles per hour it was fine and precise. So I go back look over the vehicle make sure there's no scratches on the leather as per other individuals on here and thank you everything checks out I do the paperwork and now I have a 75 mile ride home first thing off I'm not sure if I have the most updated navigation but the thing is a piece of garbage! I put my home address in and it comes up with 2 hour and 15 minutes ETA I turn on my Waze navigation comes up with an hour and 29 minutes so of course I start following the ways navigation figuring that possibly the piece of junk navigation that came with the vehicle would recalculate and no it did not! Like I said a waste of time so far with the navigation. So now I'm driving home speeds varying from 35 to 60 miles an hour and I'm not sure if I'm just being too noticeable or too picky but it does seem to have play in the steering wheel 2 inches or so. I noticed I'm driving down a pretty straight Road and it's very slightly drifting let's say to the right and then I start compensating to the left and vice versa. I had a 2007 JL you are but it's been 12 years and I really don't remember how that was at all . So I finally get home and I even did a video of the speedometer and my hand moving ever so slightly left and right back and forth throughout the ride home so to be honest I'm a bit bewildered driving around town slow speeds it is very precise and even pinpoint steering and then I'm thinking to myself maybe it's the 33 inch tires because the Treads are kind of high and with a 4400 pound vehicle maybe it's actually the rubber on the tires that are giving and causing this slight variation in the road? I guess the only way to really now would be to almost put a set of very low profile or street tires like on the Sahara or something to see if that helps this slight play so I'll keep it updated cuz I just got home and I'm exhausted but the only thing I could think of is now that I'm in Florida I have would have to drive this thing 1300 miles back to New Jersey at some point and I don't know if I could really stand that at all would seem like too much work I drove a Chevy Cruze to the dealership there was no issue whatsoever on the very same road so like I said the jury still out and I really have no clue
My navigation system is operating very well. I know there’s a recent software update on your Uconnect system. Perhaps that will resolve your issue. Like you, I’m also getting a slight drift from side to side at highway speeds. I've read that toe-in adjustment and/or breaking in new K02 tires will remedy this slight drifting from side to side after some mileage is placed on the vehicle.

I have a 2019 and this is my first Wrangler. The steering felt very loose at first until I got use to it after a few miles. It’s very sensitive to any kind of input unlike my former 2017 1500 Ram truck. But I drive it without any problems now...feels normal to me. I just learned to not over correct too quickly if it did wander a little.
You make an excellent point of not over correcting too quickly. I've been trying out different steering methods (the amount of steer and its timing) to compensate for the minor drift on the highway.

I've driven a number of JLs and I think the issue is the amount of free play varies wildly between units. the good ones have no play, very tight and precise steering, and don't wander on their own. the bad ones have a lot of play in the steering wheel meaning that you have to turn it a lot before the steering responds... and since the steering is so sensitive once you get beyond the free play, it's hard not to turn it too far, hence the driver induced oscillation.
My JLUR (came out the factory on Feb. 19, 2019) steering is very precise with no dead spots or free play at all, but it does drift slightly both to the right and left.

Thx, just had my car at the dealer a week ago for an oil change. Didn't bother telling them about the useless navigation, would they automatically check for current updates?
