While the content of this thread is valid and not necessarily funny...my first thought in response to the thread title was -

"Yes...manual drivers do feel strange things...the little tingle in your pants to remind you that you are a man and aren't complacent / lazy enough forced to drive in accordance with some engineer working within epa/snowflake constraints thinks your vehicle should drive."

I have owned a number of cars and my biggest complaint of the last decade of cars is how utterly stupid auto transmissions are now (number of gears and programming is dumb)...they never work how I want them to work because they cater to the mpg / non enthusiast crowd. Long live the manuals!

Now back to the regularly scheduled program....

This is my first post but I feel compelled as I also just starting noticing this. I basically get a little vibration or resistance on the clutch as if it were engaging. The first 500-600 miles was completely smooth and now the past 100 or so I have started to notice. I would have almost thought it was normal had it not been so smooth prior.

I would love to hear what others have heard as it relates to this. I will tell you what it isn't, "A Jeep Thing". I owned a manual JK previously so I am familiar with unfortunate manual transmissions.
Hi toomanyhobbies,

We understand that you are currently seeking advice from other forum members regarding your transmission, however, if you decide to take your vehicle to your local dealer to address this concern, please send us a PM beforehand. We are happy to help.

I started noticing when slowing down, I'll press the clutch all the way in to down shift and a lot of times I'll get a some sort of vibration in the clutch pedal. Feels almost as if a cable is being pulled, it's hard to describe.

Does anyone else notice this? Is it something I should be concerned with? I really don't want to take it to the dealer consider I've only had it back a week since it was at the dealer for a week.
Have been noticing something similar. When coming up to a red light when in 3rd or 4th, I'll push the clutch all the way down and it seems that the RPM's drop to around 500 or so and I get an audible "knock", almost like the engine is about to stall. It only lasts a half second and then the RPM's bounce back up to 1k. It varies in intensity, but the stronger ones can be felt in the pedal. Happens about 20-30% of the time or so.

I'd have that looked at. Mine drops rpm, but doesn't go low enough to knock or feel like a momentary stall. It goes low to idle, then the throttle blips like you describe before settling into normal idle. It actually sounds kind of cool as you are coming to a stop, at least with the Magnaflow axle back. I don't remember if I heard it do that when I had the stock exhaust. It probably did, but I just didn't hear it, partly due to the Alpine. It sounds like yours may be losing just a little too much rpm before it bounces back. I know for sure, though, that it doesn't stall or knock or even feel like a miss. It stays running and is smooth when it does it.

Good to know, I'll be taking it in. Thanks!

Keep us posted. I can't help but wonder if there might be a bad spark plug or wire or something causing you to lose about 50 or 100 rpms more than it is supposed to lose. I'm no expert, though.

Iā€™ve noticed a smalle vibration with the clutch pushed in all the way, but itā€™s never crossed my mind. Used to drive triple disk clutches in my sti and that made some rather interesting noises and vibrations all the time. Iā€™ll report back tomorrow if it drops rpms as I havenā€™t noticed that either. 1200 miles and feeling fine as far as I know. Iā€™ll keep yā€™all updated.

Is this a dead issue now? No one posts about this anymore but I haven't seen any resolutions for it.

I still feel this vibration in my clutch. It seems completely sporadic. Sometimes nothing, others times a small vibration, and occasionally full blown shaking. I noticed that I could force it to happen if I hit the clutch while coasting down the road, and giving it a little gas. I told this to my dealer and the tech tried it in the parking lot, holding the clutch and hitting the gas a little (while motionless, which in my opinion makes the symptom far less noticeable). He claims that what I was feeling the engine shaking a bit after revving. But if I've got my foot on the clutch, I should have no connection to the engine at all. There was another 3.6L manual on the lot, and I tried it out, and it was similar so the dealer said it must just be the way they are. I drove a manual TJ for 7 years, despite all of its problems the clutch/transmission never felt like this. I'm thinking that my clutch plate isn't disengaging fully. There is no reason that I should feel such extreme vibration in a disengaged pedal. A lot of people on here praise the 6speed, calling it the smoothest they've had. This is by far not the smoothest I've tried. There has to be an issue. Has anyone had this officially diagnosed and resolved?

Could be "BREAKIN" wear and this tranny is almost as good as my last CORVETTE--HOWEVER-

Remember, it's a hydraulic system and by depressing the clutch--you're pressurizing a hydraulic cylinder and like all HYD. systems-there are different points of wear-depending on how/often you use the clutch pedal !

SINCE IT IS A HYD. SYSTEMA TRY NOT TO "RIDE" the clutch--EVER-THE LONGER YOU maintain PRESSURE ON THE SYSTEM, THE SOONER you'll have problems--

The ESS SYSTEM will cause more clutch problems--what the HEY ?

I know, why did I even buy this thing ??--GRIN AND BEAR IT !

Just wondering if you ever resolved this because I'm experiencing the same issue. I only have 400 miles on my Jeep and thought maybe I purchased bad gas.

I thought it might have something to do with the ESS, because the engine does knock when the ESS kicks in. Turned it off and still got the same feeling. It might be a break-in issue, but I'm at 6,500 miles and still feel it. It might just be in my head but perhaps it is getting better. I'll keep updated

Are you running 87 octane gas? I heard knocking when the rpm got a little low when starting out. Once I went to 93 octane, no more knocking.
