Any 392 cold climate owners running a winter front to help get to temps?

Wondered if there any cold weather 392 owners seeing the engine not quite getting up to full temp? I am not talking about 50 degrees…. Today is an exception since we did get to 10* above for a high, but in my AM drive it is -15 to -25* F and at normal speed limit speeds I don’t get up to normal operating temps in the 13 miles or so, and drove about 30 miles the other day and not up to normal temp.

For a Jeep this is new to me, since my jk was 200* in about 3 minutes. And would often go to 230+ even in sub zero temps.

anyone running a winter front?

We had relatively cool weather here last week, 13F. Mine indicated 203F on the highway, which is it's typical state. It got down to 1F on a recent trip, but I didn't check the engine temp., however the heater and defrost worked well.
If we get some colder temps I'll check again.

I think that the speeds that I travel contribute to the cold. Lowest speed limit is 50 and most is 65. So just doesn’t get up to temp in 12-13 miles when it is -20. Probably doesn’t hurt it…. It is 180-190. I will watch oil temp to make sure it heats enough to clear condensation.

Totally different problem for me, my JKUR ran so hot…. rather worry about too cold then too hot.

No such issues here (in MA), 0 to 4 degrees in the morning hours.

Whats your oil temp?

Sam
I just wrote on another thread that I’m a little concerned with 245° oil temps here in Florida on 75° days

I am surprised that the JL crowd doesn’t know the wrangler platform runs really hot. Like really hot. Because the JK was the same way, I expected my JL to be. The JK was bad since you had to have an EIVC option to even know about. The needle didn’t budge until coolant was 235*. Fan didn’t even come on till 226*. I would pull into my garage on a hot day and turn off the engine and could hear the coolant boiling in the overflow.

I just learned to ignore it. The engine will complain if too hot. It will derate/limp etc. A 180* thermostat had no impact whatsoever, since it was fully open at 203, and it would blow by 203. Only thing that worked was the fan and slowing down. I will be so happy if my 392 can stay under 210 coolant temp on a hot day here.
