Antenna- shorter but still decent reception?

Went with this one, wasn't expecting much but since I don't use it much it didn't really matter. Turns out gets decent reception in town. Haven't tried it elsewhere.

Reception can depend on the signal strength as well. I replaced my OEM antenna with a 9" and for the FM band for local stations, I have not noticed any change in reception. I do not listen to AM.
