Antenna reception woes

Okay, I switched to a Rydonair stubby. Reception stayed about the same, but one station really went too fuzzy. Decided to switch to a longer one, but all stations went fuzzy. Put the Rydonair back on and still having the same all stations issues. I'm wondering if the screw in portion needs to hit something on the bottom, or is contact on the sides enough? Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum.

Reception will depend on (a) the length of the antenna, and (b) the quality of the antenna.

I am no antenna expert, but it appears that having a spiral wire will help a lot.

Thats what I figured. I'm guessing there is human error involved, since reinstalling the antenna that worked okay, suddenly does not.

I too am using Sirius most of the time. The 6” stubby I got off Amazon works for local stations, but range is less than optimal.

To follow up, I cleaned out the hole and then screwed the antenna down farther than i had it. seemed to work out a lot better. So additional metal/metal contact solved it. (thanks capt obvious)
