So I’ve got 37 X 12.5 Milestar Pategonias. I am happy with their performance for the most part on and off road.

However, the lugs took a heck of a lot of damage after my last 2 days of wheeling in hot springs. Although I have 5k miles on the set I doubt if they will last 30k, at least with my driving (and I’m fine with that). I also am beginning to dislike the crowned look of the Pategonias.

See the pics of my blue 4xe vs another few JL with ore square tires.

Does anyone have any recommendations for 37s/38s MTs that appear chunkier and have similar or better performance to the Patagonias? Maybe my issue is I like the look of a 13.5 wide tire instead of my 12.5, but who knows.

1. I like the look of the KM3s but everyone has them.
2. Love the look of the Cooper SST Pro and I have seen them perform very well.
3. Also like the look of the Maxxis Razr.

Throw your recommendations/suggestions and maybe a few pics down below!

Just ask @cosine he knows!
Yoko Geolander MTs, STT Pros, and Mickey Thompson Baja MTs should all be good options, especially vs. the Patagonias.

If you’re seeing noticeable wear in 2 days, get Nitto’s. I prefer BFG’s in C load range because they are smooth riding and lighter then most.

I believe the BFGs are only in a D rated for the KM3s, he's wanting a mud tread from what he posted.

And FWIW, with all the tire shortages might not be able to choose one tire over another if you happen to need a set in a hurry :(

My current Patagonias have been ok, they wear a bit quicker than comparable tires, are slick when wet, and horrible in freezing temps, but do handle dry rock work pretty well, and my E-rated set have never had a flat (but have been punctured a bit) :) I wouldn't get them again but I only paid $124 per for 295/70s back in 2018. Can't wait to get my Mickeys mounted up!

Hot Springs has a lot of quartz rock, so some wear was expected. Even so, several lugs have serious chunking. I will say that I have never seen that in any of the things I do in Texas.

the only problem with the Nittos is - everyone has Nittos! I like the look of a more square tire. I had K02s on my 4Runner that were pretty great and lasted for 65k miles. But the Jeep is much more heavily built than my 4Runnerever was.

thabks for the suggestions folks!

Nittos are also heavy AF, might also consider the Toyo MTs, nice tire and Toyos oversee the Nitto operation so I assume they're better :)

Nitto Makes the Trail Grappler in a 38x13.50/17 Which is what I am thinking about getting. I run Ridge grapplers on my F150 and love them. D rated tire as well. I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my 2022 Rubicon. 37 or 38's The 37x12.50/17 actually measure out to be 13.19 wide, the 38x13.50.... measure out 13.53 wide .

My question is.... I plan on doing a lot of overlanding and pulling a small small RV. I love the 37x12.50's since they measure 13.19 wide, I like the wider look. But I am toying with the idea of the 38's. I have the 4:56 gears. But will prob regear up to 4:88 or 5:13's Just not sure how the 8speed trans and 38;s on the 4:56 gears are going to be with pulling the small Travel Trailer. And when not pulling the Trailer, wonder how bad the gas mileage will be.

I will be running alot of trails in CO and Utah.. And eventually a RTT for certain occasions. I plan on going with e 3.5" Rock Krawler X Factor lift. Going 38's plus the RTT etc etc.. I am starting to wonder about the CG.. Getting too top heavy and not as stable running trails..

My new Jeep build this past spring started with Maxxis Razr MTs. Never could get them balanced and had repetitive death wobble no matter what I did.

Change to KM3s and it drove like it was supposed to and a lot better than the E rated Razrs.

Where I to do it all over again, I probably get 39 inch KM3s. still cheaper and lighter than 38" Nittos

+1 on the Yokohama Geolander G003

I'm hooked on them after Jeepeto II and I went right back with them for Jeepeto III.

Great looking, great wearing, not too loud, and pretty tough. I did recently have a side wall blow out off road, but I can't blame the tire for that one. I was running fast at 6 psi on sharp rocks, I'll take the blame for that one.

6 psi, I was at full load out there, full fridge, tools, recovery gear, and rolling 4 deep. It sticks to everything at 6 psi though, and the ride is down right plush 🤣

So much quieter than the razrs. Not loud at all, but only 6k on them. so far great off road, but they they do measure small at 35 1/2 inches.

Bump for any more input. I’m also going to be trading in my 37” Milestar Patagonias for a different set. My only real negative opinions are that they are getting noisier as they wear (I know that all MTs will) and they seem to be losing wet traction in turns. Off road they’ve been great in the wheeling I do (rocks not mud). On road - meh. I didn’t expect much in that area.

I’m interested if anyone has been able to compare the Maxxis Razr to the Cooper STT Pro on the same Jeep, preferably back to back. Also considering BFG KM3 as a possible 3rd choice.

Maxxis are only available in E load rated unless you go to a 37x13.5 width (which isn't a bad thing, wish more tires were available in wider sizes).
The Coopers are D rated and the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT are also a D as well as the KM3. Those are all Made in the US, another couple options are the Toyo MT and Yoko Geolander MT in D rated but those aren't US made.
