This one on my 2018 Rubicon, 2.5 months old and ~3,000 mi on the odometer. Completely unexpected and similar to another member's experience: off of a gas station stop, shifted into Drive, car jerked forward and died. Repeated attempts to put into Drive had a similar outcome. Had to be towed to Dealer. Highly frustrating on a brand new car that cost nearly $60K.

Why do people always expect perfection because the paid x amount. If you want something reliable rock solid reliable buy a Toyota Corolla for a Honda Civic for 20K. Just because you paid more money does not mean you get more reliability silly. My car should not break down because I paid 60K. Silly logic. Rich peoples cars are in the shop all the time. Drive by any exotic sports car place those cars are broken more than their running and they paid hundreds of thousands of dollars. You bought a Jeep if you decided to buy the most expensive 60K jeep it’s still a jeep deal with it.

In this day and age of everyone cutting cost everywhere, unless you are buying a handcraft car from an independent private owned manufacture that only produces 100 cars per year, you are rolling dices every time you buy a car, whether it is a Jeep or a Ferrari.

Totally agree with all these "60k jeep" comments. Also step back and realize that jeep you paid 60k for is the same jeep I paid 35k for. So essentially, you bought a 35k jeep with 25k worth of options. $35,000 seems to be the average price of just about any car these days.

Does it really matter if he paid $6,000 or $600,000 for a brand new vehicle when his transmission has failed???? OP, It’s terrible that this happened to you. I hope it doesn’t happen to me 1000 miles from home on the vacation I’m taking in mine (if they deliver it in time).

Please, someone argue with me that this level of unreliability is acceptable. I want to hear what that argument sounds like. And before some idiot posts any of the go-to straw man arguments, 1) yes, this failure is not at all widespread and not representative of most new Jeeps 2) other luxury vehicle brands have new vehicles with failures, 3) yes, they will work on it and fix it under warranty. Got that out of the way. Still, it’s massively disappointing and upsetting to have this happen on your new vehicle that you should reasonably expect to be reliable for years to come. If he gets T-boned by someone running a red light their insurance will fix that too, but any sane person would be upset by the inconvenience and the fact that afterwards your new vehicle doesn’t feel “new” anymore.

No it doesn’t matter how much you pay that’s the point he and you missed. The OP brought up the price of 60k , It’s a silly point it’s irelevant , poor people and rich people , expensive cars cheap cars all should be treated equally. No need to bring up how much you paid in reguards to a oil leak.

I missed the point? You’re focusing on a remark he made about the cost of his Jeep, rather than the main point of his posting which is that his transmission is dead on his brand new vehicle. Forget that he ever mentioned how much it costs because that seems to be distracting you. Now we’re all back in topic. Got anything on that?

What's most aggravating to me is that they have purposefully done away with transmission dipsticks so that owners won't "mess with" the fluid and damage the transmission, but in the process of doing that they have eliminated the ability for the average person to maintain proper fluid level and keep the transmission alive. We have no idea if these transmissions have proper fluid level in them or not when we take delivery. There's no way to tell. It's idiotic.

On the 6R80 and 10R80 Ford transmissions there's at least a stubby dipstick on the side of the trans. You can crawl under and check the fluid level if you have to. And it made aftermarket full dipstick kits possible too. Which is good because a lot of those were shipped with low fluid levels which created all manner of TSBs and failures.

Shit happens. The ZF transmission is in millions of cars across the world and across many manufacuters, from cheaper cars to more lavish brands. What happened to you is likely just plain old bad luck.

Ya the truth of the matter is probably like 95+% of the people using this transmission don't have issues. Just bad luck.
