Just ordered 2021 JLU Rubicon and trying to decide on 35s or 37s.

I am aware of the clearance. Planning on an AEV 2.5” DualSport lift.

It is my understanding that the Dana 44s are fine with the 37s. My concern is the transmission and a little fuel economy.

I got the 2.0 liter, so the gas mileage is suppose to be in the upper 20s stock.

The 2.5” AEV lift looks huge with 35s though. I am just trying to avoid being sorry I didn’t go 37s. If it’s not going to be that big of a difference, I may just do it. I had the JkU Sahara, and 37s would have caused way more issues with that Jeep.

Just looking for some friendly input. Thank you guys.

A good source that comes to mind is @Rubidozer. When I was weighing pro’s and cons of an AEV lift, I found his posts incredibly helpful. If he’s too busy to chime in, search thru his posts and you’ll find several threads where he shares his experience and pictures of the AEV lift with 35’s and 37’s.

My shop recommends 5.13s and new axels for 37’s. I went with 35’s and 488s. Works fine for the trails and places I go.

I do think with a 2.5” lift 37s look better ...

thank you. I’m not sure why they would recommend different axles.

I can't answer your question Kasey but - I doubt that anyone is getting gas mileage in the high 20's with the JLUR and the 2.0.

Later,
Johnny

That’s okay. Thanks anyway. I read a post somewhere claiming 28-29 (I think) obviously stock. But I am not certain it was a rubi, which would make more sense.

shoot,,, I’m driving my 1990 yj with 33” boggers until the Rubi delivers and getting 12.6 mpg.

My Rubicon 2.0 with OEM wheels and tires is lucky to get 23mpg if I hyper mile it. And thats 45-55mph.
On freeway with ANY wind its around 15-17mpg.

I went zero lift and 37 KO2s. Stock gears, it's great. Don't even worry about it, just do it.

Then you can skip the regret and cost of moving to 37s later, and instead, being already on 37s, you'll be making the move to 40s just that much sooner!

well, I originally thought (and told the lady friend) “37s are just too big, I wouldn’t go that big”. HOWEVER, that was Before learning the Rubicon flares are different and noticing the gap.
I’m still curious what numbers people are getting with the 2.0 now. And,,,, the 2021 gets the different transmission, soooo

Nice looking Rig! Have you tried taking off the RTT and rotopax to see how your mileage changes? Also, how bad is it?

Very hard to take that 200lbs tent my friend. I know on 35s without a tent with my 4.88 i used to get 17.9 mpg.
This is my Jeep and my wife FJ Cruiser
