Remove nozzle discriminator from cap thread end, 3 plastic clips. There is a spacer too, watch for it.

Put rubber seal back in filler hole paying attention to orientation then put hose on and slide metal tube back through.

Slide filler cap thread section back in tube and tap in. I used wooden hammer handle. Tighten hose clamp, nut, reinstall inner fender and you are done.
I just slipped inner fender over plastic rivets and reinstalled pushers. It’s not going anywhere.. All parts can be reinstalled if you want to at a later date.. mine will not.

How in the world did you get that out with a thin flat screw driver? Mine was in there so effing tight, I had to cut the thing apart to see how it was held together. No amount of pressing on those plastic nibs (or whatever you want to call them) would allow the thing to come loose. It was jammed in there tighter than tight, on top of having those nibs to contend with.

I was seriously glad I was messing with one I ordered instead of the one off the Jeep.

I went in at the top lip and worked the tip between the plastic insert and the metal tube. Once I got the plastic tab out of the slot I took screw driver and tapped insert out of tube with small hammer.

I’m hoping someone can post a video of doing the flat screwdriver insert removal trick.
This will be one of the first things I do when I get mine.

To bring back an old thread, I 100% agree. I'll be attempting this today... or tomorrow.

If you run into problems, just holler at me and I’ll do my best to walk you through it.

How did it go? I'm picking up my rig in a few weeks. This whole thing has me very interested in the issues WITHOUT doing this mod.

I am converting my rig into an overloading vehicle to include AEV's 10.1 gal fuel caddy on the tire carrier (YES I GOT ONE - Got one through their lottery for limited stock). Having to get the diesel out with a Super Siphon is the only option I have so I wonder how this will work without doing this mod.

My first diesel vehicle so I can't wait!!!!!

I didn’t get around to it. I had to install the bumper, winch, and a few other things before I had hit the road. Just got back a few days ago so I suppose I can do it soon.

It’s definitely annoying not being able to use “truck diesel” when I have a fleet card and fuel my RV at the same time.

@TheMike I wonder if you could modify your filler neck like I have on my truck. My tank in the bed gravity feeds the main tank. It would be a relatively long fuel line, but the result would be pretty cool. Are those AEV carriers gravity fed, with a hookup, or are They just a nozzle type?
