Nothing like buying a $60k Jeep and having to correct a factory blunder.
Nice job, this is a must do mod for me

I was thinking this could easily be a ‘pay it forward’ project= once someone pulls their stock filler neck, ship it to next guy who modifies it & installs. Then they send the stock neck on to the next guy, so forth & Etc.
I thought the same.

9mmkungfu,

I would be willing to buy your 'used' stock filler neck from you if you'd sell it.
Then I will modify it & install in my rig.
Afterwards, I would have my oem filler neck to sell to the next guy so he can do the same
Repeat as necessary-

I'm thinking about it. Wondering if it's worth holding on to for warranty purposes but maybe not. I'll send you a PM now.

OK i finally got around to working on my replacement filler neck, 9mmkungfu's hole saw method works pretty good - here is all the junk you want out of there.
No way I see you could accomplish this with the filler neck still on the vehicle, but the surgery wasn't too bad.
Now all I gotta do is find time to install my modified filler - likely next weekend.

You’re going to need plastic rivets, and rivet gun, and plastic Christmas tree push in plugs. Drill out rivers and pull plugs . Pull off inner fender then pull of the hose at the end of the old tube and remove tube from the bottom. Install new tube from bottom . You will need wd-40 to lube the new tube to slide the hose back on, a real bi..ch to get on.! Then reinstall inner fender with new fasteners. Took me about two hours but I’m 73!

Drill out rivets, not rivers, sorry I got fat fingers besides being old!

Looks pretty good! Yeah, I couldn't imagine doing it with the neck installed. All of the debris would likely end up in your tank.. that could make for a very bad day :swear:

After 3k mile trip and almost being stranded twice I did this today. Very easy, took about 40 min with a lift.

Pull these, 8 total.
I didn’t drill the plastic rivets, my inner fender slipped right over them.
One 10 mm nut, loosen hose clamp, remove filler cap and metal filler tube slides out bottom.
