Yea, I can’t imagine anything being up that high. 99% sure it is a side lock spring loaded drop in device. But until I know I don’t know. I’ll say this though, it doesn’t just pop out. I put some torque on it and it stayed put. I’ll get it torn down and post some pics.

Filler neck arrived a week ago but haven't had much time to look at it. Here are some pics. I'm thinking about using a 30mm hole saw to open it up, but wondering if there are any other suggestions.

How sure are you that this is the correct part?

Sorry sir, I was incorrect.
Have you had a chance to dissect it?

No worries! I have not. I contacted TransferFlow first to see if they would be able to make something but they weren't interested unless it was a large purchase order. Then I purchased a 1 3/16" (30mm) hole saw, and was sent a 1 5/8" (40mm) instead. But I should be ready to work on it this weekend and drill out the middle section.

Installation instructions attached. First step is to remove the fuel cap housing. Second step is to remove the splash shield. Third and final step is filler neck removal. Seems pretty straightforward. It looks like you might need some new rivets for the splash shield.

Once it's removed, you'll see the work that's needed. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the nut.

Side by side view. Identical from the exterior and you'll want to swap the rubber seal if yours came out like mine did.

Fitment is perfect of course since it's OEM.

Tested, works great.

Bonus: DEF at the pump works well too.

Sorry if this comes across as dense, but did you use the hole saw to cut a hole in the descriminator, or did you use it to cut the parts that held the descriminator in the filler neck?

Great question actually. Originally, I had planned to just open it up 30mm. But unfortunately, due to the way the mechanism works, that wasn't something I was able to do. So I ended up using it to remove all of the parts inside.
