I think if you're going to do this, you'll need a mechless double din unit that isn't too deep. Some are, but they take a little effort to find. For example, the alpine ILX 007 was only 3" deep, but it's a pretty old unit now. The ilx-107 is too deep for this purpose.

Pioneer has a head unit that’s super shallow. It does this by having the brains of the head unit separate from screen. I can’t remember model number though.

Were you successful? pics? Did you use a control module?

Cheers,
Matt
I had a Seicane in my '07 Commander (https://www.seicane.com/android-200...heel-control-quad-core-cpu-dual-zone-s088713f). It's really just an Android tablet in the dash. The audio quality was way better than the stock REC POS. I lost all of the maintenance tracking and OEM features (that I wasn't using anyway.) You need a cellular data plan for full advantage, I just tethered to my phone.

Customization options were awesome. However, the interface was, at times, a little slow to respond. I would definately purchase one again, but I have the 8.4 nav. I'll probably wait until my 5-year SiriusXM subscription is over and upgrade then.
