For anyone in Minnesota, myself and a pal just got back from Paul Bunyan State Forest NE of Park Rapids. There are lots of Forest Service roads you can ride on, but they're not much more than a gravel road. But, you can also ride on any Minimum Maintenance Road, and there are many. And they use the term "minimum maintenance" pretty loosely. In Southern Minnesota a Minimum maintenance road pretty much means it doesn't get plowed in the winter.

Many of these roads aren't posted but if you download the map from the DNR, you can see tons of them. And, using your phone or tablet you can see exactly where you are at on the map.

Of course I didn't take pictures of the worst roads, but they got pretty gnarly. Here are a few of the pics I took.

Does anyone know where I can find information on old logging trails (or any trail that wouldn’t warrant a citation to drive down) around here and up the shore of Lake Superior?
