Has anyone installed them in a 4xe Rubicon? Not sure if they will fit since the 4xe has a different suspension than the regular JLU. Want to add a RTT and a camping kitchen in the bag so need some extra support. Or is there a better option?

You may want to measure the opening and contact AirLift. They have bags of all sizes and it will be cool to see what fits. HTH

I ordered a set a couple weeks ago for an upcoming cross-country camping trip. I ordered model # 60829, because, at the time, it was showing on their website as being compatible with the 4xe. I just looked again though, and now the 4xe is NOT mentioned. Iā€™ll call them tomorrow, as I was planning to install them this week.

On a side note, I had Air Lift Air Bags on my 2018 Sahara and could haul 1,200 pounds (with roof rack, RTT, Fridge, etc.), and still have stable suspension/steering, etc. It made a huge difference.

I just got back from a camping trip this weekend, and had about 1,100 pounds of gear/people in the 4xe, and the rear was squatting about 2ā€ lower than I would have liked. Got flashed with high beams 4 times as we were driving at night on Friday. Also found the steering to be a bit light, and it felt a tiny bit top-heavy. So, my conclusions are:

1. Donā€™t exceed the recommended cargo limit like I did
2. If you must, then use air bags to help.

Will keep yā€™all posted as to whether 60829 is the best fit

Update from last post. Called Air Lift Company today, and they could not provide confirmation of correct kit. They asked me to measure the inside diameter and height of a rear coil like this:

Jeep Wrangler JL AirLift 1000 airbags in a Jeep 4xe Rubicon with no lift kit 3938F525-E118-40A7-BC43-3E1FAF001AA2

Problem is, I need to unload the vehicle first to get an accurate measurement, and Iā€˜ve got about 500 pounds of stuff I canā€™t easily unload (roof rack, RTT, ACE sliders, 100 pounds of Kilmat, etc.)

Anyone with an unloaded 4xe in a position to measure their spring as shown above, and report back?

Width and Height get plugged into their calculator here:

Put a jack under your hitch (or bumper crossmember) and lift until Jeep is roughly level.

Ok, reporting back as promised. I called Air Lift today, because the results from their calculator (linked above) were quite confusing.

The actual measurements for a 4xe Rubicon, unlifted, and unladen, are 5ā€ internal width by 9ā€ internal height. When I type those two numbers into their calculator, it recommends kit # 60917 (4.5ā€ x 10.0ā€). However, there is a kit # 60920 that is exactly 5ā€ x 9ā€. When I called, and told them my measurements, they immediately pointed me to kit 60920. When I explained their online calculator pointed me to a kit that was 4.5ā€ x 10.0ā€, they said that was incorrect, and they would fix that bug.

It should be noted that if you enter in just a normal 2021 Jeep JL Rubicon on their website, you will be pointed to kit #: 60829. That airbag is roughly 5ā€ x 6ā€ - The width is correct, but the height is 3ā€ too small for the 4xe Rubicon.

Iā€™m returning kit #60829, and have ordered kit #60920, and it should arrive by the weekend. I will post back with results once install is complete.

Update: Installed Air Lift 1000 kit 60920 this weekend without too much drama.

Installation instructions contained this handy chart with slightly different bag measurements than the one you find on Air Liftā€™s website:

Width and height for this kit seem great. I did have roughly 500 pounds of static weight in the Jeep at install. I used the method of placing the right front tire, and rear left tire on ramps to articulate things a bit, and open up the rear right coil spring for easier install (then reverse for other side).

Test drive shows notable improvement in reducing body roll, feels more planted on turns, and bumps are more suppressed. VERY pleased with the result.

INSTALL TIP #1: I took a Dremel tool (with 1/8ā€ drill bit) to the spacers. Basically opened up the donut hole to be quite a bit larger than the donuts that come with it. This helped them to seat better at the bottom, and top of the spring seats.

INSTALL TIP #2: I installed the fill valves in the left side wall of the rear cargo cubby. No easy way to clamp the heat shields to the exhaust where the pipe turns the corner and ā€squishesā€ into an oval shape. So, I used a 10 mm bolt from the heat shield under the cubby to secure the kitā€™s heat shield. This basically extends the OEM heat shield out a bit to cover the tubing in that area. Here are some pics:

ā€¦those two zip ties will likely melt off, but I was in a hurry. Iā€™ll check it periodically, and find a way to secure it better without zip ties when I have more time.

Installed the airbags today. Over all worked well and followed the recommendations from Jeeperz Kreeperz and widened the holes in the spacers for a better fit. Used the T-Connector for the air lines and found a sweet spot for the infill valve just beside the license plate. Over all a 2 hour job. Did a first test with my 120 lbs RTT on top and BIG difference. Highly recommended.

Awesome information....Thanks, this will probably be the first mod when my 4xe shows up. Will offset the weight of my overlanding trailer.

So, update from me: I tested the setup with my RTT on and overland trip. Definetely worth every cent and highly recommended. The 140 lbs tent was barely noticable and i never felt unstable.

Nice write-up! Was it nearly as composed on the road (handling) with the load and airbags installed vs stock when unloaded? This is now on my probably-do list.
