Do you have or are you getting an aftermarket alarm for your Jeep?

Thankfully, the JL can disable the horn signal for locks. You can choose to get a horn for the lock or only if you press the lock button twice, or not at all. Similarly, you can choose whether or not to blink the lights for a lock signal. (You can also disable the horn for remote start.) All this easy in the UConnect screen.
I always make my cars go silent (except for the soft dual-tone horn, which sounds very pleasing), just to be nice to everyone. It builds karma against the guy that check his door locks 5 times and he's 3 feet from the car.

I hope the horn doesn’t go off when you leave the engine running and shut the door behind you like ford does. It’s so annoying when I have to get out and close the driveway gate.

Just to side-track this thread a bit, what also pisses me off are the locked-door indicators tied to the vehicle horn.
My car has a two-tone soft tone ~90dB for that, while Honda, Nissan, Toyota - especially the low-end vehicles- just use the full 130dB horn for the lock or lock-confirm.

There is nothing like sitting at lunch outside with 10 cars facing you and some idiot confirming that he locked his precious Sentra or Camry LE while people are shocked awake in their seats.
Even worse are the idiots that can't seem to open their OWN cars without setting off the alarm - and then fumbling around for a minute or more before they turn it off.

I guess this all loops back to alarms serving no purpose anymore.

i understand where you all are coming from and I somewhat agree.

but technology changes things. having a remote that can alert me up to 2 miles away, or an app that alerts my phone across town is AWESOME! i've known when my alarm is set off while in my office or when inside a restaurant and I can get outside and see whats going on right away.

Can you actually steal a JL? With the chip keys and all, is this still a thing?

I am glad that you can disable the alarm via UConnect. I owned Subaru Outback with an alarm that could not be shutoff. If the car was locked, it always chirped and flashed its lights. At times, I would get up in the early morning at a camp ground and forget that I had locked the doors. That 'chirp' was loud enough to wake everyone within a 100 yards!

Has anyone added an aftermarket alarm to their JL's yet? If so, what brand?

Do you know which alarm will send a text or alert directly to a phone when it’s activated? This is something I’m interested in.

I'd be interested in an aftermarket alarm if it could replace the need to carry the brick remote that came with my JL.

passive door lock/unlock would be a nice added bonus as well. :)
