I bought a set of tires on the Friday before Memorial Day, from DT in Witchita FallsTX.

Supposedly 10% off, on sale. Turned out it was a rebate I had to apply for, not a simple discount, as I was led to believe.

I went ahead with the deal though, as I had driven 60 miles.

Applied for the rebate. Got an email back saying it was in process. Might take 3-4 weeks. It’s been 3 times that long.

I just get the runaround from dealer (I don’t have any control over that) and can’t get anyone to even talk to me on the phone.

My last 5 sets of tires have come from DT, but I won’t be buying from them again.

A shame. I used to talk them up, but from now on, I will tell people that they are not honest in their business practices.

Glad you posted. Based on DT posts on here I was considering contacting them for a set of wheels and tires here in BOERNE. I will wait to see if this works out for you.

I've bought from DT and DTD for many years too but I've never had an issue with their rebates. I did get upset once when they had a holiday weekend rebate and being the hoIiday and they were closed, I attempted to order online but it wouldn't allow it. DT stated they must be ordered in-store during the rebate period though they claim the rebate ran through the holiday but their stores are closed on holidays. If I recall, you can check the status of your rebate on their promotion website.

I'd rather have a discount than a rebate too.

That said, not too long ago I forgot about the rebate card and let it expire. I called and they either extended it or replaced it - can't remember which. That's was a first for me and much appreciated.

Update:

Matt at DT contacted me via PM, researched it, and says a new rebate card is on the way.

I’m sure it is, and I’m grateful for his help.

I will say that the whole process sucks, though. They advertise it as a discount, it turns out to be a rebate you have to apply for, then MAYBE a month later you’ll get a debit card in the mail in an unmarked envelope which they hope you will throw away as junk mail, and forget about the whole thing.

It’s all designed to minimize actual payout, it seems to me.

If you tell me on the phone that I’m getting a 10% discount, you should take it off the bill when I pay.

I’ve spent over $77 worth of my time getting this “discount” already.

Pro tip... That's how rebates work dude. They want to make you jump through hoops to get the rebate. Then they hope you forget to cash it.

Buy online from tire rack. Get them installed at Costco. Done.

I have spent over 10 years dealing with DT and they have been super to deal with and always give me a decent deal and match the competitor prices, I also have done a few Mail in rebates and they have always came, I’m sure there are exceptions to this like your case but I for one have always had a pleasant experience over several vehicle platforms.

brazos, thank you for letting us get your rebate issue resolved. While mail-in rebates can be cumbersome at times we go out of our way to make sure our customers get them as advertised. Feel free to reach out to us the next time you are in the market for tires or wheels. We'll make sure you are taken care of.

Wranglerman, thank you for taking the time to give a shout out to Discount Tire. We appreciate your long time support and will continue to guarantee the lowest OTD price on all the products we carry.

Discount tire is very upfront and straight forward that it is a rebate. They do these sales for most major holidays and it is pretty awesome. Whether it is cash off instantly, or a rebate card later, it is saving the same amount of money. It is very simple to submit the rebate online. If you don't check your mail thoroughly that is your own laziness causing an issue. Shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth...

Purchased a set of 5 milestar patigonia 37 x12.5 x 17 mt’s. Tires are great, I’m enjoying them. 5 months later I noticed the spare is flat. What! How long has it been flat I wonder. The spare has NEVer been used, shows no ware and the little nubs are all intact. So I go to dt wait for like 40 minutes
Tell the guy my story, we walk out to inspect the tire together. He then proceeds to measure the tire and says he has to prorate the tire because it’s used. I started to laugh out loud. The ten other people in the store heard the rest. I’m sure they didn’t like what I was told. Trust me when I say, there is no damage to the tire, it’s parked in the garage I don’t drive it to the mall. It’s just defective. What happened to their warranty they so proudly show on tv? Oh, I still don’t have a spare, the tires are sold out milestar says they don’t know when they will be back in stock. If I was Britney, I’d have a replacement that day.

Update: DT sent me a PM, looked into my situation. I appreate the time he took to contact me regarding my experience.
I know that DT can’t control a tire mfg being out of stock, but it’s the experience at DT that I take issue with.
I still don’t have a spare, they should have provided me with something. For those that are looking for milestar patigonia mt’s the 37x12.5x17 are said to be back in stock mid sept. If they hold the pricing, I’d buy them again.

I still have not been taken care of, I know the tires have hit the port. I spoke to the mile star rep at trail hero, but still no tire.
