Decided to take the plunge and get an AFE Intake for the 3.6L. I've had them on my BMW in the past and have always preformed great and have had a great fit.

I also opted to get the Pro Guard (Yellow) Filter, as this helps with Filtration and Engine Protection more than other filters that AFE offers, so this should be good for off-roading. Here are a few pictures that I took during the install. I really wanted to low end growl once I get on the jeep, and this product did just that. I'm not concerned about HP numbers, but I can tell that I thought the car did feel a bit more lively, and sounded really, really good past the 3.7K RPM mark.

Enjoy.

moving these over was a PITA - FYI!

Where the MAF goes. Hard to pull off, but just take some time once you turn 1/4 full circle, and transfer over to the new intake tube.

These 2 bolts have a poor fitment in the top left corner. It's not horrible, but AFE could have designed these better with another bend in the metal.

Looks great!! I did it as well, but just got the dry filter. I too had them in the past and really liked the fit and finish. I also added the Gibson single exhaust, sounds great!!

Thanks for sharing. I just got mine delivered today. Cannot wait to install and excited to hear how this sounds first hand. I also opted to get the throttle body spacer. Hoping I didnt waste $100 on that. We will soon see.

I've seen dyno's that showed 5 or so HP gain, and i've seen dyno's that showed 0 hp gain. 50% of people say they don't do anything, the other 50% say they do. Strange. I look at a 1 inch block of metal and can tell you that if it gave you 5+ HP and better gas mileage that Jeep would have just extended their TB for the get go. If my jeep was like my old honda back in the day I would have it, just because it looked cool.

Got it installed this weekend and it was a breeze to complete. Love the sound that engine makes and now may hold off on changing out the exhaust. To note, I was averaging 14.8 MPG prior to install. About 50/50 mix of city and highway driving and I have somewhat of a lead foot too. Two days of driving I am showing 16.7 MPG. Anxious to see what it will be after a few more days of driving.

Overall I love it!

Sorry if this posted twice...anyhoo I had a k&n version of this type of intake on my ā€˜06 Frontier...aside from what I guess was slightly more power, the (ahem) substandard intake tube mount broke (this one looks better at least) and those big conical filters look cool but mine would never stay on the end of the intake. Iā€™d open the hood and itā€™d be sitting there in the box. Truly high performance lol. Now I just replace the factory filter with a k&n. Anyway jusā€™ my $0.02. Hopefully yours works ok.
