Hey guys,
I know a good amount of members have AFE intakes ( CAI ) on their jeeps. I am debating between the Magnum force and the Momentum GT. I'm hoping to hear from actual owners, not the "what a waste of money" crowd. Hoping for a little improved sound, throttle response and maybe a mpg or two. I have had Airaid and K&N intakes in the past.

Given the kind of forum this is, I think you're gonna get few responses from actual AFE owners. I don't have either of those intakes because I live in CA and AFE, despite being headquartered in CA, does not CARB certify products. S&B does have a CARB certification though so its what I went with. It makes a good noise though honestly I think my MPG is worse though, since I am more heavy on the throttle than before. Don't think it did anything for throttle response, although the Pedal Commander plug-in made a world of difference. If throttle response is what you want I'd get a pedal commander and stick it in City mode before you change an intake. Really all these factory intakes tend to be very well designed nowadays, so if you're spending the money I would make sure you're spending the money 100% for noise reasons and nothing else, and that you're okay with that.

I would avoid K&N or AFE's oiled filter options because the oil might gunk up your intake sensor. Some cars are more sensitive to this than others. Porsches really hate it. I would avoid the Stage 2 because it is an open/exposed filter inside the engine bay. Putting aside the water fording thing (apparently most forum Jeep owner go fording in bodies of water that reach the top of their hood) you'll still just be sucking in hot ambient air from the engine. The AFE Momentum, Quantum, and S&B intakes are in a sealed box to prevent that from being an issue. I'm happy enough with my S&B at any rate.

Wish I had seen this thread and reply before I bought mine the other day; Magnum Force Stage 2-XP with Pro 5R filter.

Looking to have it installed by the end of next week based on my work schedule, after that I can follow up with you and let you know what I think? I’m sitting around 20/21 miles per gallon now

Thanks LateBreaking for the detailed response.

Visible15, Most guys in other threads are loving their intakes. You likely will too.
