Hey All,

I’m moving towards AEV Saverge II rims.

Whats the general consensus on the best lug nuts to use that are aftermarket and black? I’m looking at Gorilla and see they have Acorn style and Forged Steel in black? I also saw Mcguard has a pair?

I’d appreciate any advice for those with AEV rims!

Thanks!!!

Since you can use full size lug nuts w/ those AEVs I'd run the gorillas, they have that "system" where every lug is a lock so you might consider that setup.

You should try to use factory style lug nuts wherever is possible, because the high torque (130 ft-lbs) are not going easy on thinner spliner ones.

Since you are going with AEV wheels, their JL specific wheels can take factory lug nuts, you should use Gorilla black nuts, the best price I have seen is on Justforjeeps.com

They don't have the full lock version where all 23 lugs are locked, personally I think that is overkill any way.

The McGard ones are smaller than the factory/gorilla ones, even though they advertise the same.

For future reference, I have a picture of Gorilla, McGard, OEM (left to right), you can clearly see Gorilla ones are on par if not beefier than the OEM, while McGard is barely matching the OEM in the taper angles.

Does that mean you will have an issue using McGard? Don't think so, but still Gorilla seems a much better choice with AEV or OEM wheels. It definitely will not fit any other aftermarket rims though.

I’ve been trying to go for a certain color scheme with my JLU.

trying to find orange lug nuts is a real pain.

where else should I be looking?

Maybe you would need to have a set powder coated? Cool look.
