I am getting ready to pull the trigger and purchase the AEV 2.5 DualSport RT system for my 2021 JLUXR, but I have a couple of questions for those that have experience with this system... and feel free to post pics of your setup.

1. How level did the kit turnout? I have a winch and steel bumper, which has settled my frontend about 1/2-3/4", debating on adding a 1/2" spacer during install, will it be needed?

2. I know the system is lacking a track bar, but other than an adjustable track bar for the front end, was there anything else you wish you had during the install?

3. Anything else you wish you knew before hand...

Thanks for the help and insight.

I have AEV 2.5 in lift.
Without front track bar it will be off center a few inches. I put yeti hd trackbar on front. Perfectly centered. Handles well.

I’ve put that kit on both our jeeps, one a 2.0t the other a 3.0 ecodiesel. Both with ARB bumpers and winches. Neither have a problem with front sagging.

Neither are XRs but I believe the diesel shares the extended front bump stop tower with the XR. I was constantly hitting the bump stops off-road and it was infuriating. I went back in and removed the AEV bump stop extensions after checking clearances without springs.

If you have a 2.0t it may not be an issue, the 3.6 might. Strongly recommend checking clearance with springs out to make sure it won’t contact anywhere before committing to it.

I was 'tracking' that, surprised they do not include anything to address that, I'll take a look at the Yeti HD bar.

Thanks

Good to hear that you have not noticed any sag, and thank you for the images. Those long bump stops are terrible and I was already contemplating not installing the provided bump stop extensions. I am guessing you are running 37" BFGs?

Thanks

Hey Cope, that's a great question and I should have mentioned tire size because it's definitely a factor - I have 315/70r17. If you plan to run 37"s you probably will need some bump extension but the extension cup in their kit is likely more than necessary. If there is such a thing as a 1/2" puck that would probably do the trick.

Teraflex's bumpstop kit has shims you can add: Amazon.com: TeraFlex 1959300 Jl/JlU Bump Stop Shim Kit, 1 Pack : Automotive

Believe they're in .5" increments, or at least some of them are.

i asked AEV why not offer track bar. Response was “Not technically necessary“ but most folks put adjustable one on and recco’d yeti I think it also has to do with cost. Yeti is forged here in US and I learned from them that they forge most OEM track bars . The parent co forge decided to offer beefier bars as specialty item and branded it yeti.

OP, I one thing to consider on this. The XR will NOT accommodate the AEV rear track bar brackets that come with the lift kit.
I have the AEV 2.5 lift and will be installing an adjustable rear track bar (and front while I'm at it) as passenger rear coil is very very close to the frame and contacting bump pad.
I went with MC tracks bars.

Have it and love it, no issues at all. I did buy a YETI track bar which stabilized the Jeep steering and control far more than stock.

This is good to know… and something they need to identify. Is the XR rear track bar mount similar to the 392? Why did it not work?

Thank you….

There are much better lifts out there than AEV for the money. Don’t be afraid to look at Rockkrawler and Metalcloak, they perform amazing on the road as well as off-road. AEV has always overpriced for what you get and ridiculously overhyped.

AEV is aware the rear track bar mounts will not work with XR.
Not idea on the 392 rear axle.
The non 392 XR rear axle has a different bracket that is taller.
