Quick update: was able to go with quadratec 41 wheels (+10 offset, 5.2in backspace) and 285/70/R17 BFG Ko2s. I love the way it turned out, about 1.5” of poke outside the fenders, just what I was looking for.

Thanks again to everyone for your help and advice.
Quick question: What color wheel is that? Hard to tell in the pick. I'm looking at the same wheels and mine is a 2 door Granite Crystal as well. Looks great by the way!!!

Welcome to the forum!

You can mount most 33-inch tires —275 or 285– on your stock wheels without rubbing. A 9-inch wide wheel is overkill for 33-inch tires IMO.

OE wheels are 7.5-inch wide with a 6.2-inch backspacing. If you wanted a little more backspacing, 8.0-8.5 wide and 5.2-inch would be plenty for a 33-inch tire. Otherwise, your Jeep risks looking all squatted.

Most AEV and Quadratec wheels are 8.5-inch wide with 5.2” backspacing.

Good luck!
Hey, new here. I just got a 2020 JL Sport and obviously am now looking to add some bigger tires. Will 33's rub at all with the stock suspension? I've read articles that said adding larger tires will require upgrading the suspension if I want to do any offroading. Everything I have on my vehicle is stock at the moment.

I'm not looking to do any serious rock-crawling (yet) but I would love to be able to take my Jeep offroading and not have to worry about interference with bigger tires. Any info is helpful, thanks!

You can mount 285/70R17 tires on Sport, Willys and Sahara without rubbing. Anything larger than that will start to rub.

Stock 2024 JL Sport S with 285/70r17 Falkens. No lift or any other modification. No rubbing. At most moderate off roading, short of any extreme articulation. Speedometer either spot on or 1 mph slower than actual.
