Hi Team!
Heading to the dealer to see JLU in the spec I want, apart from tow and hd electric option.
I have no immediate need for these items but wanted them to future my adventures!

The tow hitch can be added later, but can the auxiliary switches be added by the dealer at a late date?

Thanks for your advice

yes both switches and tow can be added after

BUT
If you get it as an option you get a higher capacity battery and alternator

I made the mistake of not getting it; GET IT!!!!!
I wish I can go back, $795 for all that from factory as an option is a steal; I'm pricing it now after the fact and it's going to be at 2x that amount for just switches and hitch alone (parts & labor). I will not be getting the benefit of new Alt & Batt. Big mistake not to get it as an option.

The Sahara I am getting did not have the Tow Tech Package installed.. So, the Stealership is installing it.. They say that the factory Battery and the Factory Alternator are the same regardless. Is that Not True?

240 Amp Alternator
700 Amp Maintenance Free Battery

Are these different in the "Standard" vehicle?

The tow package isn't any more expensive to install after purchase, but only if you get the 2.0T engine since it already comes with the 700 Amp battery and has no alternator.

I opted to skip it since I don't plan on towing a trailer or needing aux switches for lights or a winch. I'll probably get a tow hitch to use with a bike rack, but that's a cheap and easy install.

What about on the 6 Cyl? My Sahara will have the 6 cycl. What Alternator and Battery does that come with new - from the factory?

It depends on the trim. Since you said you have a Sahara, stock is 220 Amp Alternator and 650 Amp Maintenance Free AGM Battery.

I Had mine added to my deal after finding a steal on a 2.0t Sahara that had everything I wanted expect the towing and switches, Just had to leave my new baby at the dealership 2 days! They did a great job. I wouldn't hesitate just make sure you use a dealer that has a good service dept.

So the 2.0T engine doesn't have an alternator and it has a larger 700 Amp battery? I am going with the 2.0T and debating between getting the tow/auxiliary package. I don't know that I'll ever really add lighting or a winch...just maybe a small trailer and bike rack.

It depends. Jeep changed up the batteries offered. I would suggest looking at the current order guide or window sticker to see how many CCA the battery ij whichever JL you’re looking at has. The eTorque 2.0l has no alternator but the regular one does. I’m not sure if you can even get eTorque with a 2.0l anymore since I haven’t been looking at replacing mine.
