I'm planning to get started on my audio project next week and i'm concerned about phase.
Setup will be Pac AmpPro to rockford 5 channel amp. 4 main channels powering stock speakers (for now). I'm running speedwire to AmpPro dongle because I don't want to cut any wires.

Is it best to reverse polarity in the wiring or leave the speakers out of phase?

Sorry if this sounds stupid. Modern Infotainment systems confuse me
Leaving them out of phase may or may not be a good thing. When tuning a car, sometimes it's beneficial to have one or two speakers out of phase because by the time the sound reaches your ears the sound is in phase. I would wire up in a manner that lets you swap them out once it's playing and let your ears tell you what way it needs to be.

Can anyone tell me what plugs into this? It’s directly above the drivers side lower dash speaker. I can’t remember if I unhooked something or if this was already hanging there.

If I remember correctly, there is something that's plugged in to the back of the enclosure, an extra module, not the speaker wiring itself.

Better yet. This is what it looked like. Wire the two adjacent terminals on opposite sides and then take the opposite terminals and wire them to two leads out. The right side of each of those plugs is positive.

How did you terminate the other ends of the cable that plug into the amp? I have the factory sub woofer harness, is there any type of adapter I can just plug into? I have a 2021 without Alpine and I just put in an 8.4 radio. The guy also through in his Alpine factory subwoofer, enclosure and harness. I’m trying to hook it. I haven’t purchased an amp or anything else yet. Thanks

You will need a line out converter. I am familiar with the PAC AmpPro but I am sure that there will be less expensive alternatives. The two wires to the left are connected to to the amp.

Thanks I was hoping since I have the wiring harness from the subwoofer that there would be some type of adapter that would turn the wire from the sub into a connection I could just plug into an amp. But this looks easy enough to follow.

If you look at a diagram to wire a pair of dvc subs it will make more sense. It can be done at the plug but I had already chopped up my plug by that time so I got out the soldering gun and some speaker wire to do that.

Would anyone what part number this plug is? All the adapters are for the female plug. I need this plug that comes from the factory harness - Thanks

Well got the new 2024 with the Alpine system and was thinking of upgrading since I got some gear from my old WK2. If I'm reading this right in order to use the PAC device you NEED to use the factory hardness adapter. Is that correct? Now way to plug directly to the amps under the steering column and then use the APH-CH01 hardness to use existing wiring?

Being this new dash setup with the bigger screen, wasn't looking to start pulling that apart or evening knowing where to start. :whew:

IMO the better option to replace the amp is this:

https://rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/dsr1/

with this adapter:

https://rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/hrn-ar-ch4/

and this bass knob:

https://rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/plc2/

The factory amp is on the firewall behind the drivers side speaker pod. Unplug it and plug it into the CH4 cable. No need to pull the radio. I originally used the AmpPro that came with the Quart Stage 6 and I wanted more control than you can get with the AmpPro. From there you can o with the Quart kit or the JL Audio 5 channel amps. JL Audio also builds JL specific amp racks.

My man, exactly what I was looking for! I will be using the JL VX series so this is solid.

Here's my install thread... should have pics there. Also note I went back and added the Maestro extension cable to put the DSR1 in the same place as the PAC, passenger side console area behind the glove box. Have more space there to use and its easier to get to if I ever need to flash/update it.

DSR1 install

Also I'd get the RockfordFosgate Sub knob that integrates into the DSR1. You're working directly with the sub's DSP level this way, not out at the amp. If you're using the PUNCH EQ settings on the DSP this will matter/make a difference.

I installed the DSR on top of the inverter. I had enough slack in the RCA cables to run them across the back of the dash. No clearance issues with the steering column.

The post was a great read. I am super confused though and got maybe a silly question...

So I'm getting conflicting reports where some say the DSR1 completely removes the need of factory AMP where others say it connects the DSR1 to the factory amp and bypasses it? Which of this is true? If I wanted to use the DSR1 to push an amp for front stage only, and leave the factory amp powering the rears + factory alpine sub, is this an option with the DSR1? Or if I wanted to use the DSR1 for the sub replacement only, but leave the factory speakers in place, would the alpine amp still power those?

I'm basically trying to understand what options do I have and flexibility with the DSR1...

Long term thinking of switching out the front/rears but possibly leaving in the factory sub. Or maybe replacing just the front stage at first and take baby steps along the way. Looking to explore my options...

Appreciate you all pointing me in the right direction!

EDIT:
Here's why I'm confused... If I follow this link it shows factory amp stays in tack:
https://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rft...ignal_processors/1230-61763-01-c_dsr1-irs.pdf

But this post says factory amp goes bye bye:
https://www.diymobileaudio.com/threads/rockford-dsr1-can-use-with-factory-amp.427806/

EDIT2:
Oh and another question, if per my above question is true where I can use the DSR1 with factory amp on certain speakers, would this allow us to fix the annoying factory amp kill switch that lowers the sub output on SOT being completely open?
