What JL Audio equipment are you using?
IE...8channel vxi? 12" W7?

May you elaborate on your setup, or what would you have changed from the very beginning?
I'm pretty sure a lot want to copy you're exact setup:)

Thank you

Fair question, and it's likely not as elaborate as one might think.

JL Audio JLFix86 (resistor approach)
JL Audio VXi800/8 (includes 2 Knob programmable kit and Bluetooth add-on)
Audison Voce AV K5 Separates (2 sets)
Front Kickpanel Pods
JL Audio 750/1
JL Audio 10W7 - custom, sealed box
A Crap-ton of wire
Custom Amp board mounted to a Diabolical Security enclosure.
Front-Rear Security Cameras from BlackVue
AA Wireless Android Auto Kit

Things I'd do differently today...
6.5" Separates weren't easily possible back when all of this started, but I would definitely choose 6.5's for the front set, and 6x9's for mid-bass in the overhead console.

I'd probably go with a JL Audio 12W7 powered by a JL Audio 1000/1 instead of the 10W7/JL Audio 750/1, but I already had the 10 and the amp from a previous build.

All of that being what it is, I'm still quite pleased with the setup and clarity.

Fun stuff!

The amount of helpful information you and carstereochick provided in the early days was crucial in deciding which direction to go....... although still haven't found a permanent solution for sub in a 2 dr. Have probably rotated 6 different type enclosures in and out of it in the last year in trial and error phase

Ok everyone, I am needing some advise please.

Last year I upgraded the JLU sport (7" radio) sound system with the "alpine" system. I bought the powered subwoofer, the Alpine SPV-65-JLT roll bar speakers, and the Alpine R-S65.2 with the bigger pods and finally got everything installed and working.

Today the little under seat powered sub gave up the ghost. TBH I was never happy with it anyways, it just wasn't enough bass for my likings. This scenario brings me back here asking for some advice. I wanted to keep things relatively stock when I purchased the "alpine upgrade" so now this is gone and I know that I never liked it I am gonna abandon the whole "stock" thing.

The plan would be to keep the upgraded component speakers in place since they are decent and can handle additional power but obviously I need a new amp and sub. If I remove the alpine under seat subwoofer I will loose my amplifier for those speakers so I am thinking about a 5 channel amp... maybe the JL HD900/5 that would give me 4 channels at 75-100watts per channel and a 500w sub channel. Would this be a good option or am I overkilling it?

When it comes to subs and boxes any suggestions there? Are the JL audio stealthboxes any good? Or do I just need to live with a box in the back cargo area. If the stealthboxes are lacking would one on the left and another on the right do the trick or is that just a bad avenue altogether?

Besides those items would there need to be anything added to the radio at all in order to get quality sound? Most our music is played directly from our iphone using usb or Bluetooth.

Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

For a sub, Quart just released their drop in for the factory enclosure. They pair it with their 400.1 amp and it's supposed to be added to their Stage 6 kit but you could probably run a similar amp to it and get comparable results. I added one to my Stage 6 kit and I am very happy with it.

They also reuse the rear screw to use the sub frame to reinforce the enclosure.

Well, I don't have that one. I have the aftermarket alpine system. This one has the sub and amp under the passenger seat.

Ah, I missed the quotes. Sorry 'bout that. These are a little less expensive than a stealthbox but you have to add a 10" sub of your choice.

So if I got two of these, put a set of JL 10TW3-D8 in them what should I so amp wise? Right now the little KTP-445U from the Alpine PSS-24WRA kit is powering the knee and sound bar speakers (underseat powered sub is shot but the amp is still working and powering the component speakers)Can i continue to run it for them and then add in a monoblock for the subs? Will ne need a pac amppro or anything else for integration?

I am unsure how integrated the sub is to the rest of the system. Can’t see from the manual if you are hooked up to the speaker level of line lever inputs on the sub.

Wanted to give you guys an update since I found a cheaper alternative that doesn't involve splicing in resistors. You can see my set up above. I also picked up Metra 82-3016 for the tweeters (dash) which did not fit properly despite crutchfield saying they would. I just dremeled out some plastic on the adapter plates to make it work. The main thing is the Kicker 46kisload4. It works very similar to the PAC module without a DSP though. I have a DSP built into my amp so this worked out well. It was $40 on amazon.
Final set up is a 6.1 system
You send 4 channels through the kicker module as the OEM system is 4 channels. those 4 channels run into the amp. I also wired in the tweeters as separate channels rather than crossed over like OEM had it.
Now to tuning!

Dash - Tweeters (JL C1-250 Component, not using the included crossover)
Knee Panels - Mid range woofers (JL C1-250 Component)
Roll bar - full range (JL C1-690x)
8in sub in the back
I'd like to be up front about this. It appears the kicker module doesn't work. What I has initially thought was poor connections is actually something else. I just got around to taking a deeper look at it but for some reason, the device is only feeding two channels of audio. Unsure as to where the issue actually is unfortunately. I'll update as I work through and contact kicker for support to see if it actually works. I've seen reviews of people saying it works on JLs.

Thanks for your reply!!! @Sting_NC_USA

It's fine!! we are here to learn more!!! :brokenhearted:

At this first time i use PAC APH-CH01 harness to diagnose and make the diagram of speakers "input and output".

The Amp pro ( AP4-CH21 ) i have sure this solve, but is 300$ bucks and more 70$ for shipping (Brazil)...

So at my own risk i want try 47 Ohms resistors. ( U$7,00 for 10 pieces), if dont work i can try 60 Ohms like NVX-VSLR60 or AudioControl AC-LGD 60.

I just want trick the factory amplifier, not the headunit.

If it works, I'll come back here to show you the photos and how I did it.

Best regards

Felipe.

PS: check this out; AudioControl AC-LGD series

Hi folks,

Today i solve my problem.

My car is tag "Beats" premium, the amplifier have 10 channels output's, to say true is 11 channels because the subwoofer use 2 channels, like dual coil 4 ohms.

To my solution i chose to use the "Audisson USS4", https://www.audison.eu/products/uss-4/
On datasheet says about 12ohms input, but at multimeter show 4 ohms.

Each Audison USS4 have only 4 channels, so i buyed 3 units, i take used on ebay 25 USD per 2 units, and 25 USD from another saller, all used and works fine.

So i connect all 11 channels from amplifier output to the 3 Audison units, connected with AP4-CH21 cable.

11 x Channels connected at Audison USS4.
1 x center channel (up center panel)
1 x Front left tweeter (up panel)
1 x front right tweeter (up panel)
1 x 6x9 front left speaker (door)
1 x 6x9 front right speaker (door)
1 x rear left tweeter
1 x rear right tweeter
1 x 6x9 rear left speaker (door behind)
1 x 6x9 rear right speaker (door behind)
1 x subwoofer "first"
1 x subwoofer "second"

And "vualá", the Audison amplifier and DSP works perfectly.

At calibration on Audison Prima 8.9 he listening de Pink noise to de-equalizer and show how is the equilization wave is coming from Stereo unit, and the nasting wave is not any surprise.
Peak at 80hz and 16khz and big hole starting on 150 hz to 5k.

Thanks Beats Audio for that clear and Flat wave.

PS: All tones are FLAT on equalization at Stereo Headunit.

Next steps:
Change the Speakers for Morel Tempo.
Install subwoofer 10" JL 10W1v3 under spare tire, fiber glass and wood DIY.

Thanks and best regards,

Hello all about to get my JL Audio equipment. Just wanted to know what options you would prefer and no upgrades for a long time..hehehe.
I already got a Fix86 module, DRC-205 Bass Knob, 12" HO W6v3 Box Subwoofer.

ACTIVE vs PASSIVE, JL Audio VXi 1000 5ch Amp or VXi800 8ch Amp.
..and $400-$600 range speakers (Morel Tempo Ultra 2-way vs Hertz Mille Pro 2-way).

Option 1.
Morel 2-way Tempo Ultra 602 2-way. PASSIVE setup.
JL Audio VXi 1000 5ch Amp.
Morel Tempo Integra Coxial for the rear.

Option 2.
ACTIVE 2-way up front using Vxi 800 8ch Amp.
Morel Coaxial in the back.

Will this have enough power for the HO 12" W6v3 Subwoofer?

Option 3 (may go this route).
PASSIVE Morel 2-way Tempo Ultra speakers up front.
Morel Coaxial Tempo Ultra in the rear.
HO w6v3 Subwoofer.

What do you guys prefer and why?

Morel 2-way Tempo Ultra 602 or Hertz Mille Pro 165.3 2-way speakers?
What are the main differences?

Thanks

Has anyone use the Morel Hybrid 6.5" (2 ways) up front in PASSIVE configuration?
How does the included Morel crossover perform?

Has anyone seen a way to use the factory Alpine Amp located under the steering wheel behind the lower dash panel to get a good signal for an extra sub amp to add an additional subwoofer to the factory 9-speaker system? I have seen a company that uses the PAC APH-CH03 and you do not need to cut any of the factory wiring however, I am not sure how to wire it.
