Hey Everyone!
New to the forums here, this is my 2018 Jeep JL
The bumper install was pretty straight forward (if you dont mind grinding, modeling, and creating your own parts, but in the end now the damn fog lights dont work.
Connections have been checked and verified.
I am unable to find any fuses?? I heard somewhere there is a smartswitch or something for these? I am not a mechanic but I am pretty used to wrenching on cars. There are three connection points for the harness, one by the passenger side on the front, and the other two connect to the fog lights. I am sort of stuck as to what the problem is.
I did talk to the guys at ExtremeTerrain, they did offer to swap out the bumper but i figure its easier and quicker just to handle it myself. Good folks up there, I will be sure to do business again soon.
Anyway, here was the install and what I had to do to get this to fit.
The bumper came from ExtremeTerrain. Unfortunately it did not fit right out the box, the bolt patterns were off about 1/8th of an inch. A Tungsten Carbide bit, my drill, and about 20 minutes were enough to get these etched out enough to install.
Once that was done the bumper could install, but the bolt patterns for the fog lights were bunk as well. I am wondering if this was for a JK?
The fog lights in the JL consist of 4 mounting holes in more of a triangle pattern as seen here
Luckily I'm good at building shit. For my day job I build robotic camera platforms and film long term botanical timelapse for networks and studios. Making a bracket is a piece of cake, about 10 minutes designing on an Ipad and then another hour printing the parts on a 3D printer.
Above is the bracket i made.
I had to drill two new holes in the current bracket, then screwed everything in. It went together nicely
ANNNND below, is the fog light mounted in place thanks to the bracket, no thanks to the holes being all wrong on this.
And now for some Jeep Porn.
Just a few basic mods.
Nerf Side Steps
Shorty Antenna (i hate that sail mast it came with)
Bumper and winch
door sill protectors
Nice heavy duty floor mats.
COMING SOON
Roof Rack system (hoping Rhino gets theirs out soon)
Roof Mount tent. Probably smittybuilt
The idea is to turn this into a moving photography studio for some projects I am working on.
