Hello Guys!

Great community you have here.

I searched and searched and found info here and there about the fix for dead spot in the steering but nothing final.

My dealer has a Sahara that is offering me a deal too good to pass up but it has the dead spot in the steering, its a May 2019 build.

Is there a definite fix that I can apply to this JL or should I wait until FCA solves this?

Thanks!

My Sahara never had a steering issue, however I did add a steering stabilizer right away. Drive it on an extensded drive and see for your self if it is even an issue. Personally I think it is over blown

Selec-Trac mitigates a lot problems (because of its CV joints).

No, there is no official fix yet. And no, it isn't overblown and it will get annoying as fuck to drive. I'd wait or find another Wrangler.

Never had an issue with my steering. I don't have selec-trac on my Sahara though.

If the steering is spot on, then you shouldn’t be worried about steering issues. Not all JL’s have this issue, don’t get to caught up in the “death wobble” posts.

Please tell me more about those cv joints!
The Selec-Trac replaces the U-Joints with CV Joints. I'm not sure of the exact dynamics, but I believe it is better at soaking up misalignments in the system. While there may be other issues with the other parts, at least the CV joints don't amplify them. Something like that.

Some on these forums say you won't have death wobble issues with the CV joints, others have said you still might. We have a Sahara with the Selec-Trac, and the steering is nice and tight. But, we only have 3000 miles on it, so time could change that.

Steers like my '98 Expedition did, actually. Play? Yeah. Dead spot on center? Yeah. Do I have to worry about a top heavy SUV flipping over in an emergency maneuver at relatively normal speeds because it DOESN'T steer like my 300ZX? Nope.

This is my first Jeep...it steers as I imagined it would and I've adjusted my driving to it.
