A/C Makes Hissing Sounds

First, no there isn't a snake in the dash.

Now, my daughter drives the Jeep, and informed me of the sound. From inside, every once in a while I hear the A/C making a hissing sound. Like it is charging up. It still blows cold. The sound usually happens soon after the Jeep is up and running. I'm wondering if this is pointing at an issue, or maybe it is just a little low on freon? Ideas?

i've heard this on several different vehicles. The brakes on these also make a hissing kind of noise when applied.

It was definitely the A/C.

I had the same issue when I picked up my used 2018 JLUR this January. The dealership said it was low on refrigerant, and it took a ton to fill it up. After that, it stopped, but I just started hearing it again about two weeks ago. ?

Lol, "a ton". They hold 1 lb. Barely anything.

That’s the same noise my 2022 Willys XR made before the A/C quit.

Diagnosis from the dealership stated a leaking A/C condenser………@ 12k miles.

A/C condenser was ordered and has arrived; I’ve just not taken the time to drop it off for the warranty repair.

Essentially…..I‘m guessing you have a small leak in the system somewhere.
