8.4 Uconnect from Other Vehicle

I've always wondered what made the 8.4 Uconnect for the JL different from the 8.4" Uconnect in any other Jeep, Dodge or Chrysler. You can easily find the 8.4" out of other models for under $300, as compared to the JL easily running $1000.
I did see one person who took a unit out of 18 or 19 Ram truck and it worked, even had off-road pages, just had to deal with a Night-vision back up cam versus a standard backup cam on the JL.

So has anyone tried swapping in a 8.4" from another model and have success?

you are most likely seeing the older ra3 / ra4 radios for this price. . the JL useas a UAQ code 8.4 others will work bet they need to be of the same generartion ( 18 and up usually) I just bought one from an 18 ram. . pm me if you have any questions i can look up part numbers for you if need be
