Hey crew! I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered in the past, but I wasn't able to find the answers I was looking for so I thought I'd just make a forum.

I'll spare everyone the specifics, but my Jeep came with the 7" Uconnect radio and I want to upgrade to the 8.4" Uconnect. I have the opportunity to switch with a buddy of mine before he trades his 2020 Wrangler in (we already have the VIN's and security codes for both units). But here's my question: my wrangler doesn't have the heated seats option, therefore my 7" Uconnect unit doesn't have the option. My buddies Rubicon came with leather seats w/ the heated seats option, therefore his 8.4" Uconnect unit has the module to activate the heated seats. If we switch units, would my 7" Uconnect unit recognize the heated seats capability and update or will we have to update the unit manually?

If anyone has some insight, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again!!

Just plug them in and in a few key cycles and a rest period they will sync up and be fine.

Wow, I was not expecting such a speedy response! Much appreciated!! However, I stumbled upon another question. I noticed that the 8.4" has two additional connectors that my 7" doesn't. In the picture I found online, the two additional connectors are labeled as "cell 1" and "cell 2". Any insight on what the function of those two connectors are?

Thanks again!

The 8.4 has a cell connection for Over the Air updates, the SOS and Assist and a Wi-Fi hot spot. They will not work in your Jeep, but you do get the bigger screen.

Oh, I see. So I can assume the same would be the case for the Jeep I'm swapping my 7" into? Our main concern is just making sure that he's not trading his Wrangler in with a noticeable issue that could lead to a reduction in it's trade-in value.

Well the SOS/Assist and the Wi-Fi hot spot is a subscription service I don’t think they will notice. Reportedly doesn’t work well anyway.
