“Uh, FSCC, UH-1??? Have we slipped through a time portal? Request Kleenex ordnance for CAS, over.”
"Apaches are off doing their own thing... The MAW stands ready to support"

I was ANGLICO and deployed with the Army twice. They never complained when Cobras and Hueys showed up under our control. lol

"Negative! AH1/UH1 operate on TURBOshaft engines. Fear pilots will not be able to predict aircraft and will crash into our position!"

Roger that devil dog! The Huey is a workhorse, the Cobra is badass! I’ve been in a number of rotary wing aircraft, and early in my career as a Combat Medic I CASEVACd a number of casualties in Hueys.

Awesome, pushed this to a PM so we don't derail the thread.

So, did we determine a winner for this argument yet?

If not, 2.0L wins if the V team doesn't respond within an hour.
Team V6 responding...

well.. who doesnt like holding a gear as long as possible before shifting or just the fun of shifting
But the manual shift in the automatic comes rather close to that. No clutch of course but other than that it's almost the same thing. I'm in a mountainous area so I use it fairly often.

I was skeptical on the 2.0T until I test drove both it and a 3.6L Wrangler before ordering last year. In my antiquated mind, a tiny lil' 2L just couldn't measure up to a 3.6L. Well, I was proven wrong, not like it was the first time that happened.
I was even more drastic than that. I thought 6cyl manual was a complete no-brainer. Wasn't even considering the 2.0T. Luckily, when I went to test drive a JL their 3.6 was already out on a test drive so I took a spin in the 2.0T. Wow, much more power than I expected. If 4cyl can do that I couldn't wait to see what the 6cyl would do, so I waited to test drive the 3.6.

I couldn't believe it, it was such a letdown. Noticeably weaker, slower and sloggish. Before someone jumps in to defend the 3.6, this was because I test drove them at 5000' elevation and my JL was going to live between 4000-11000' elevation. To my complete surprise, the 2.0T automatic is MUCH better at those elevations. My assumptions and beliefs were quite incorrect. I absolutely didn't want what I was sure I wanted.

I was even more drastic than that. Having owned and grown fond of a NA V6 with predictable and linear acceleration and torque, I figured that's what I'd want in my new Jeep.

After three test drives in three separate Jeeps with the Pentastar, though, I configured my JLU order with the 2.0T, having not even seen nor test-driven that engine. The V6 was so doggy that I thought anything should be better, so I rolled the dice. My choice is validated every time I drive the turbo four with the excellent 850RE. Yes, there's a bit of a learning curve with the accelerator, but once committed to muscle memory, it's all gravy.

Here is a list of my preferences, I've driven 4 different JLs...
1. JLUR 3.0 Diesel (Fav)
2. JLUWXR 2.0 Turbo
3. JLUR 3.6 6 speed (2. and 3. are very close)
4. JLUW 3.6 Etorque (I actually liked this one except for the gearing, a little too slow)

K... so while I am a proponent of the V6 since I own one, it has just let me down big time today.

I think the alternator went out, so I had it on a battery tender til I got over COVID. Jeep didn't even make it to the shop. ESS disabled immediately, then power steering went out, then ABS warning, then Traction Control warning, then the Jeep sputtered to a stop. Then the computer went into an endless reset cycle while the lights and wipers went haywire...

She's at the shop now and I'm awaiting the bad news...
