So I cut the factory rubber insert and I think it looks better.
I am going to do the exact same. Looks good. I tried to find another one online but didn’t have much luck. Anyone know where there are replacement ones for sale?

And not to hijack the thread, but I put the hatch in and painted the wood in bedliner. It isn’t perfect but it will work for now. I was working on a hinged cover for the bolts and jack, but that will have to wait for another day.

That is awesome! Can you start a new thread with some specs and details? Maybe moderator can move your post as well t9 not hijack this thread. I’m very interested in what materials you used etc.

Just a little TIP. You do not need a drill or to lower windshield to tap the other holes. The plastic is so soft i just grabbed a drill bit by hand and turned it and it made a hole lol.

I used a spare drill chuck to do the same - did it by hand. No need for power. In fact, you’re more likely to punch to deep with a power drill.

I guess if I ever wanted to revert it back to original to sell it or whatever I could. I’m just funny like that :)

Rail systems and 2018 Rubicon???
I have viewed most of the Jeep JL dash rail system installation manuals. They all state that there are three anchor points. Two are located under
dash vents and the third is a bolt located in the middle of the center dash pocket.

In my 2018 Jeep JL Rubicon with 8.4 UConnect screen, the dash vent bolt locations are correct...but my Rubicon does not not have a central pocket screw/bolt.

And yes...I have removed any rubber pad!!! I am looking at the plastic of the pocket and there is no anchor bolt!! I also noticed that the middle pocket has a different separation arrangement than the photos supposedly for installing anything in the center pocket.

I purchased a Rugged Ridge Multi-Mount system to fit in the center pocket. The RR installation manual specifically states that it is for the JL,
but the unit will not fit the pocket! The molded separation ridges are not the same and the unit has two factory-made screw holes.
My Rubi does not have any screws located at those locations much less the center anchor bolt shown in the rail installation manuals.

Does your Rubicon with the 8.4 screen have an anchor bolt located in the center of the center pocket? Or does it have two small screws offset right and left in the pocket? Or is it like my Rubi with no holes at all in the pocket????

You guys are troublemakers... that means you too, @Jeepmarkjl ... showing all these fancy new & fantastic gadgets, forcing me to spend yet more money on the JL. So naturally I had to order one. Thanks a lot. ;)

Great pictures ... well worth a couple thousand words.

I now understand that the rail is slid towards the windshield and not centered (fore-and-aft) in the pocket. Is it slid backwards enough to add a USB outlet somewhere along the front edge? Anybody looked under the dash (behind the radio) to see if there is room there for the USB outlet? Once under the dash, is there room to reinforce the rail with a backing plate and a bolt/nut fixture?

Oh yes, if I order, I hope they don't send me one with those purple plastic end mounts!

I did the same thing :). Dry fitting everything before I paint...I have a hatch I am putting in to access the underneath storage too.

My camera flash made them look purple, i have no idea why. They re black so no worries.

As for your other question, I believe if you removed the radio, you could find a way to get a charging cable down. There is a hole in the middle area that I think you can drill in the middle RUBBER part to get a cord through.
