I've had 37s with the 6 speed for 2 years and 21,000 miles. Initially thought I'd regear right away but still haven't done it. Probably will regear this winter. Point is, it is not mandatory. You'll wish it were regeared sometimes but you can always regear it in the future. It does turn this into a 4 speed with a seldom used 5th gear and never used 6th gear.

I'd recommend 37s and then regear down the road sometime.

After 19,000 miles the 37s on heavy beadlocks killed the stock tie rod ends and ball joints...

Those are the minuses.. also having to carry a really large/heavy spare, changing a really heavy spare, paying for one, mounting one, balancing one (larger tires are more difficult to balance and keep balanced). Not to mention the gearing.

After tons of debate, research and driving myself nuts going back and forth between 35s or 37s, I went with 35s, which was the right decision.

For those of you out there who find this thread and are debating the same choice, i’ll give you my take on it... my original concern with going 35s instead of 37s on the JLUR was the gap in the wheel well with a 35 - which in person is not noticeable at all and 100% a non-factor. The drive on 35s is great; however I certainly notice the diff and even though I’ve not driven a 6-speed on 37s with 4.10 gears, I can imagine it wouldn’t be great, especially for a daily driver like myself.

You may also find people on the forum saying that if you’re on the fence like I was and you don’t go with 37s that you’ll regret it, well I think I’d regret going 37s instead, being that I’m not interested in re-gearing anytime in the near future.

Now with all of that said, I personally am not a fan of the BFG KO2; however if I was going to get that tire, I’d go 37”, because it’s light and closer to a 36” tire in reality. The KO2 35 is more like a 34” tire. That’s just my 2 cents.

Meh, I think it looks great in person... maybe in photos it would look “great” and not just good with 37s, but without re-gearing I’ll take the trade off :like:
