On this day 50 Years ago I entered the military induction center in Boise Idaho, raised my right hand and took an oath. That was the beginning of my active military service in the United States Air Force.

I would do it all again if asked.

I beat you by a couple of months. Joined up to avoid getting drafted. Second best thing I ever did. Best thing was marrying my first wife during tech school at Shepherd AFB. Got out after 4 and the GI bill and student loans paid for school. (loans I paid off). After 9/11 I was PO'd so inquired about serving again. Told I was too old but waivers were possible. Waivers took a while but I got in to the Air Guard in 2004 and served til they kicked me out 2015 cause I became too old. Although I was a REMUF the entire time, I did manage 4 short tours to Kyrgyzstan. I'd still be in if they would have allowed. Now I'm just a retired old fart.
