I have a stock JLUR w/the factory hitch on the back. I've been looking around and am having a very hard time finding a compatible 5-bike rack (particularly without deleting the spare). Has anyone seen/used one, or is my only option to tow a small trailer?

I found a 4 bike rack from Walmart. It’s sturdy and doesn’t require any modifications. I have seen 5 bike hitch racks, but they are quite expensive. You can always buy a hitch extender that helps the bike rack avoid the spare and allow the tailgate to open.

I don’t have it on the Jeep right now but here are some pictures of it. One bike is loaded on from the back. I don’t have a spare tire on the back but the rack extends out pretty far to clear a spare. I have it on a JK. It’s great, but it may be difficult to fit 5 adult bikes. Two adults and three kids is possible.

I don't know what kind of bikes you're carrying, but if you're carrying expensive carbon bikes, check out the 1up-usa racks. You can carry 4 bikes off of a 2" receiver and it's the strongest carrier you can buy - no wobble, and no bike droop from sloped tubes. It also only touches the bikes on the tires - so you have no frame rub or interference. Takes like 15 seconds to put a bike on or off.

Tray mounted: 5 bikes and a hitch ... I haven’t seen. Here’s what I’d do:

1. 4 rack (1up, kuat, yak, Hollywood) w kuat/yak extended room
2. Put one on spare tire with Hollywood when you really need the 5th. Or put one off roof(more expensive and pita to get there).

Verticals:
Yak hangover 6 for 6 bikes

Not tray:
1. 5 bike “top of frame”
2. Add an extender or a swing away.

A few years ago we bought a Thule rack and its changed vehicles a few times but its the best bike rack we have ever had and for the Jeep we had to get an extension due to getting bigger tires on the jeep but all in all we like ours

I should have clarified 3 adult-sized bikes and 2 smaller bikes; nothing particularly delicate. Thank you for the excellent suggestions.
