I’ll judge you by your content. So far you’re scoring an 8/10 on the smug scale

@Jondrew

Yes, I do laugh when I see utter bullchitt and crapola posted.

By the way, by my username, note the count on the likes in relation to the posts... This is indicative of something.

Pretty much everything I own - including my ping pong table, projector, camera, weight set, PC case - has someone online complaining they are garbage and break and should not be purchased! It seems the JL is no different, lol.

It is true though, everything you own, in some way owns you. Dropping $60,000 on a vehicle can induce a lot of "ownage". Big spending does tend to amplify any problems with a purchased item.

I don't think some people fully understand the downside to spending big money on items, and the claim it can have on the owner, the true cost. In that regard, the used CJ5 that I bought for $1400 was a wonderful vehicle that I had such fun with for many years and never cared about all the stuff in this thread people are complaining about. I long for those days!

Was just saying to my wife yesterday, I'll be on my deathbed and mutter the word "Rosebud" ... and it will be in reference to that old CJ5. :)

I have purchased 49 new vehicles in the past 20 years. The only new vehicles out of those 49 that I ever had trouble with was my 2012 JK and definitely my 2016 JK. So far, my 18 JLR has been mostly good, but I only have 1,800 miles on it. My front left speaker needs to be replaced and FCA needs to do a new ecm flash because the crap tune.
Out of this whole thread the one thing I'm most interested in is why you're buying a new car every 5 months.

I bought my Nacho Rubicon on Feb 22 2018 and it had a noise in the 3.6 engine that was hard to tell where it was coming from.After 2200 (1400 miles) kilometers it got worse.The dealership agreed,so we put it on the hoist and observed the crankshaft pulley was wobbly while it was running.The mechanic then took the serpentine belt off,and then turned the pulley bolt out by hand.The pulley ended up wrecking the end of the crankshaft.Therefore,59 days later I was on the road with a new top to bottom (crate)3.6 engine.Since then,I have 9800 kilometers on my Rubicon with no issues at all.The updated motor now has 295 H.P.I must say that FCA was great after this incident happened.The dealership gave me a beautiful set of running boards for my trouble as I do a lot of gravel road driving and the rock rails did not cut it for gravel roads.FCA gave me 500.00(Canadian) for some accessories out of there catalogue. And when I picked the Rubicon up when it was fixed,the parts manager gave me a portable Jeep fridge which was a nice gesture.We figure the crankshaft pulley was defective from it's casting and when it was torqued on the crankshaft the sleeve on the pulley busted all to hell and wrecked the end of the crankshaft.The wife and I have had 6 Wranglers and Her 2018 Sahara and my Rubicon are the best so far.

My JLUR has been in the shop 3 times for the same thing. It is still in the third time, almost 40 days now. Jeep is on the verge of offering me a new vehicle or my money back. I have enjoyed both Jeeps and Power Wagons over the last few decades. I am now concerned about overall reliability of the new JL.

I want to poll only those with over 5,000 miles. If you have over 5,000 on your JL please participate. Your answers will help me decide whether to get another JL or go back to a Power Wagon. Thanks in advance.
I have about 13,000 miles and had my first issue, but it’s not really an issue. The rear defrost cable popped off. My dealer has ordered a replacement window and said it’ll be covered since there wasn’t and indication of damage around the area.

I have ~4800 miles. I've had exactly two problems:

1. Had a minor rock hit the windshield which resulted in a huge crack; IMO, not Jeep's fault that I caught the rock, but the size of the crack is a bit much considering the size of the rock (have gotten hit with much worse in other cars with just a small chip).

2. My rear defroster button on the glass snapped off, need to have it fixed.

IMO, neither one of those is a significant concern. I'll get the defroster fixed when I go in for service next, and I'll get the windshield fixed when life calms down after Christmas. I am 100% satisfied with the reliability of my Jeep thus far.

9,500 miles so far and the only visit I've made to the dealership is for my oil change. I've been clear for all the recalls so far and I tend to check every couple of weeks to make sure too. My biggest complaint is that I haven't taken it off road enough...

Have you run the Jl in the cold, out in the snow. How's that front window defroster working on your problem free JL ?
Just fine. It's snowed here several times already and was 15 deg F when I was out yesterday morning. Problems? Zero, zilch, nada.

Laugh on, skippy!

@Jondrew

This 8/10 smug @Rhinebeck01 helped me out when I was stranded. He is a wealth of knowledge to this forum, has helped countless people out and would probably give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. While he can be an smart@ss sometimes, it’s all in good fun! Sometimes family doesn’t agree on things but at the end of the day we are all family here like it or not.

Anyone notice that the biggest whiners are the same folks who brag about spending $60 grand on their rigs? Makes me glad I'm a cheap SOB, and that makes me laugh.

Mostly boredom. I usually have multiple cars at one time. Right now I have the JL, a 2016 Ram, a 2017 Audi Q5 and a 2017 Honda CBR1000rr.

I know. Everyone talks about their $60,000 Jeep. Mine was under $40,000, and I think that was expensive.

It's like people who buy the Hermes AppleWatch. Good on you if that's what you want. Just don't complain about the battery life on your $1,000 watch when it really isn't worth the $500 the base watch sells for. That's not on Apple. That's on you.

Sticker on mine was $45k but I leased that bitch for <$400/mo. I'm getting $400/mo satisfaction out of it easily.
