4XE throttle training

We just got our 4xe last week. It's my wife's daily driver. She was wondering why the gas was still going down despite charging every night and only having a 7 mile commute.

I have driven it twice and kept it in all electric no problem.

So we went to dinner and she drove. Vrooooom out of the neighborhood...gas engine kicks in and once it does...stays on of course.

We had "the talk" about throttle control. ?

Agreed and that's her choice of course! If she wants VROOOM and no gas, she needs to take the Tesla. On the 4XE it's 1 or the other.

Lol my wife is the same way. She has a 1 mile commute. She's pulled into the garage with the ICE still running. Ive shown her the electric button but she doesnt mess with the mode.

Get the SW update at the dealer. It will stay in electric mode instead of defaulting to hybrid mode.

Letting the throttle turn on the gas engine is terrible, it is literally impossible for the engineers to make that OK for the ICE engine. Gas engines don’t like to start up cold and rev to 3-4k rpm before the oil has circulated.

Just to clarify this for anyone in the future, I have two 2021's that both stay in whatever mode I left them after having the software updates done. One was purchased in May 2021 and the other in June 2021, so pretty early in the first year production.

Same for our '22 after the software update.
