My 2020 Gladiator Rubicon had a 6250 GVWR with 1142 payload. My 2021 Wrangler JLUR is 5800, payload of 850 and weighs in at 4900lbs. The 2021 80th JLU has 5460 GVWR, payload of 850 and weighed 4520 with the Soft top.

A diesel Wrangler Rubicon has a GVWR of 6200, diesel Gladiator Rubicon is 6450.
And the Jeep specs page shows the 4xe Sahara at 6200/1280 and the 4xe Rubicon at 6400/1280. Wonder what the Rubicon actually says on the sticker.

Here is my 2020 JLU Sahara Altitude at 5550. I have it tuned with superchips and intercooler pipe and DV+. I was pretty set on the 470lbf and 360hp would be a good upgrade, but I want to drive one first before I commit. My jeep is very pepped and has great pick up now, so I need to do a compare. No one is commenting on the power/performance so that has me a little concerned about the advertising numbers from Jeep. I fear folks are underwhelmed but I really hope that is not the case.

I test drove one while I was there but it had 10 miles on it so I didn’t want to really get on it. I had a 20 JLR 2.0 and that felt quick but it was much lighter and had 4.10 gears. The Sahara 4xe didn’t feel as peppy comparatively but it probably weighs almost 1,000 lbs more than the 2dr and like I said I didn’t floor it. I would like to drive a Rubicon 4xe to compare.

I am still working on my wife but personally I couldn't care less about the performance. I know the surveys say plenty of people do, but you also have to factor in who takes the surveys.

When the idea of the 4xe was first raised it was something that really checked my boxes; my boxes being offroad capability, family hauling, and no or very little fuel usage during day to day activities. Over winter (first weekend Dec - first weekend Apr when I swapped my winters in and out respectively) I averaged 16 miles per day; some were a lot more, a few were less, but that puts me dead center in the range of folks who would really benefit from a PHEV like this.

I have a sports car for the gotta-go-fast.

Agree on the gearing comment. Sahara has 3.73s but 4.10s would help a lot. Pricewise, probably cheaper to get a Sahara and re-gear if you don’t need the lockers. The weight will be felt for sure but it probably smooths out the ride actually.

I had a hybrid mercury Mariner in the past and it was by no means a performance machine. However, It was appealing to run on battery only in parking lot and very low speeds. I actually liked that car. I would think the EV operation of the Jeep would be similar satisfaction. I have a 2020 which I love but I am considering the 4xe for the gas saving and EV benefit mainly because of the tax credit which will virtually offset the depreciation or at least make it not that much to switch out. So for me a test drive is the deciding factor.

THANKSSSS!! :D :D

What's your configuration (high points...soft/hard top, steel bumpers, towing)?

Also, Nacho? Hell yes!
Ordered dual top group, standard bumpers, tow package, saddle leather, front camera, body color fenders, cold weather group and RKE. The color is kick-a$$ and everybody loves it! Glad I changed my mind from Firecracker Red to Nacho!

Everyone has ignored the elephant to this point, but 20's on a Jeep🤮. Quick Google search shows 0 tires more aggressive than an AT in that size. Tell us again how the Sahara isn't the street trim with your new dubs.

we are all anxiously awaiting a performance report. no one has compared this to other wranglers, or got rough 0-60 run in yet. can't wait to see what you think.

Now I just want the check-box for a max GVW Rubicon. Then one could actually build up a nice rig, haul a useful amount of gear and occupants, and still stay within GVW. Of course, all the added weight in the 4xe is near the floor, so the CG isn't raised substantially.
