  • Diagnostic Procedure to test for seperator unit issues
  • Likely, if your 4xe fails you will be scheduled for a new battery
  • If you pass, likely you can charge again
  • PCM & 5 other modules updated, if passes the updates should continually check for the condition, and trigger a check engine light should the seperator unit have problems

Will be performing my first one of these today. Appears to be a series of flashes followed by a drive test where you accelerate and then coast down repeatedly while running a function on wi-tech.

The HV battery SOC must be above 75% to perform this function. It's up to you guys if you'd want to charge it ahead of time to make the process quicker, as it technically isn't "safe" to charge until the recall is complete.

Total repair pays 1.8 hours for the flashes and drive cycle testing, with an additional 3.2 allotted for battery replacement if needed. Not great, but not terrible. The recall does not pay for the time spent charging the vehicle to above 75% SoC if required. Some dealers may be limited in capacity on this recall based on how many level 2 chargers they have available.

Did two of these today and no issues. Pretty straight forward. Might be an issue for some techs that do not have access to a wireless hotpot, as the pod much stay connected to wi-tech for the drive cycle portion of the test.

Significantly less annoying than the B9A.

The irony...lol...battery must be charged 75%...but recall says not to charge...lol.
e
I brought mine back because it now alerts me that the electric mode temporarily unavailable... that FORM thing..battery already replaced last month...along with the transmission oil modulator....and the element that heats/cools the battery...yeah..I'm over this thing...

FYI: I have a 23 Grand Cherokee 4xe and just called and she told me this fix is only for the Wranglers not the GC's. Fix for those TBD.

My Jeep popped the engine light during the end of the driving test. I'm getting a new battery.

it seriously only takes ~4 hours to replace the entire battery pack? I figured it would be a much harder process

It's physically difficult and easy to damage the vehicle. The rear seat must be removed and then you need to get the battery out. Without damaging the door frame.

When I had mine replaced they did hit my lower door frame, now has a couple exterior dimple dents. I unfortunately didn’t notice it until a month or so after…

I Just had the modules updated but the drive test drive failed because the vehicle wouldn’t stay in electric mode. We’ve been pretty chilly in the Midwest, so I’m sure that’s the issue. It goes back for the drive test for a third attempt on Monday. It went into FORM during the second attempt which hosed the road test.

I’m wondering if charging or leaving it in a warmed shop overnight would help to keep it in electric mode. As for FORM, that’s just unfortunate I think. I had the vehicle in esave, so it should have only been using gas. I’m not due for an oil change and the tank was filled very recently.
