I "took delivery" on Wednesday, that lasted all of a 15 minute drive before the engine temp warning started. I pulled off, called my selling dealer and he said check the fuses, make sure fan is running and let it cool a bit then try again. I pushed all fuses, some were not fully seated, but they all appeared to be seated enough. I then drove to the next exit, pulled off let it cool completely down as it gave me warning again. I called dealer again, they said "can you get it back here" so I babied it back to the dealer, about 20 miles. That drive took about 40 minute having to stop and let it cool down and let battery charge enough from momentum to get back to the dealer. Today (Friday) dealer replaced thermostat with no effect, dealer is basically clueless and has reached out to Jeep directly. Anyone else experiencing anything like this? This doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy about a $60k vehicle that I don't even have 50 miles on yet and it's already in the shop for multiple days with no apparent cause.

Yikes, that's a bad start. Knowledgable Jeep owners here have stated that potential long term issues, loose fuses not withstanding, will typically reveal themselves in the first 800 to 1,000 miles. What, contractually, are your options? Those are test drive miles so the dealer might take it back. The techs are probably not at all up to speed on the 4xe, which leaves you SOL in terms of getting thigs right.

Basically I was on my way home, had the extra 20 miles to get back to dealer, where I completely babied it. Lots of hills allowed some cooling down time on the way back. This is a custom ordered Jeep. I have no idea what my options are. I mean if I can't even get 100 miles on it how can I get 1000. Sure, I'd love for Jeep to expedite a new build of this exact vehicle, but that takes time also. And having owned for about 90 minutes before being in service is clearly not a good start.

If it makes you feel any better, my then brand new $60K Ram 1500 Ecodiesel Longhorn back in 2016 totally crapped out at 100 miles on the odometer. It wouldn't even run due to an electrical problem and needed to be towed back to my selling dealer. I basically wanted my old car back, but I didn't go there. A few days later I get my truck back, they had to find the electrical fault and re-run a bypass wire. 5 years and 60K miles later, that was the only problem I've ever had with the truck. Best vehicle I've ever owned.

So don't get too down or give up too quickly . . .

While your experience turned out well, you likely represent the exception rather than the rule. I cannot believe how many times I have read similar accounts here, where a newly delivered Wrangler shits the bed on the way home from the dealership. Talk about a depreciating asset.

Yikes! Sorry to hear. The more I read these posts, the more a realize Iā€™m extremely lucky to have a trouble-free Jeep.

Service people can only do service stuff. Best thing is to politely engage the dealer principal or GM.

GMs have wider discretion to do other things, including, but not limited to, putting you into another vehicle.

Good luck.

Yeah, i understand who's really responsible, and I treat people the way I want to be treated. I'm also not out of hot that it's a simple fix just yet. Come next week woo see what I need to do. The whole holiday weekend interrupts everything.

Sorry to hear about your experience. That's definitely a buzz kill. My brand new 2020 Rubicon also needed to go back to the dealer within the first week for a repair. They gave me a rental, fixed the problem, and it has run trouble free ever since. Keep the faith.

Thanks for tagging me here, kcn2vb. I would be happy to get you in touch with a case specialist while your Jeep is with the dealer, please send me a private message to get started.

I'd be real concerned about what ever damage was done by driving and over heating vehicle. I lost my mini cooper that way trying to get to the dealership which was 15mi away. Hell, I'd ask for another one. Also, anyone else find it hilarious that the dealer suggested he check the fuses...lol you can't make this stuff up....:CWL:
