Since you make a decent trip every weekend, and seem willing to experiment you should use battery saving mode to get to the interstate and then drive in all electric at 75 mph and report what the range is. I am also curious what happens if you were to drive 4 or 5 hundred miles without plugging in, mostly interstate like your on a road trip with no place to plug in.

I've already thought about doing the e save mode also. I could do another with e save but charging the battery. I didn't buy this for mpg, so not a huge deal experimenting. I don't have any 4 to 5 hundred mile trips planned at this time. There is always the possibility though as my relatives live a little over 300 miles one way, so no charging would be over 600 miles.

I drove mine 300 miles after battery depletion the day after I bought it, reset the trip meter as soon as the ICE kicked on. Averaged just over 24 mpg at highway speeds, 65 mph.

These things really drop in mpg at 70 and get much worse the higher you go after that.

this makes me happy I got the EcoDiesel haha. With 7k miles on my diesel now all with my black rhino rims, 3.5" teraflex lift and 37's, I am average for the life of the jeep 21.4 and my daily average is 22.5. when I got 80 to California like last week I got 22.3 over a 850 mile trip.

Yeah it definitely sounds like you made the right choice. For people who do tons of long distance driving, diesel is a much better option. The 4xe is great for those who skew more towards around town driving with only occasional longer trips. It’s so crazy how many drivetrain opinions we actually have these days!

In my area of NJ, diesel costs 20% more than unleaded. You would never even come close to making up the cost of the diesel engine vs a standard 2.0 liter or the 4xe no matter how much long distance driving you do.

The diesel should do better for that distance. I only do this one day a week on average during the boating season. All my other driving miles are perfect for a 4Xe and not for the diesel.

I am now at 24.5mpg avg on my 4xe Rubicon with 50/50 hwy/city and the mileage is improving as the engine breaks in and I drive more city on electric.

375hp 470tq, and with the $8000 tax credit (fed/state) I paid $38K for a pretty loaded Rubicon. And it takes 87 octane. If the Fed credit bumps up to $12,500 that means with the $500 state I will have paid $33K. Pretty crazy. Game changer.

That definitely makes sense. I was speaking generally. Where I am, electricity is so expensive, I‘m not planning on plugging in my 4xe.

I don’t pay that because I pay heavily discounted fleet pricing on diesel since I own a company and have a contract for diesel but I still think it’s cheaper considering I was averaging 30 before the tires and lift. Plus lower engine temps and way more reliability. But the electric is a great Jeep!

Well it was initially 21 but lately I've gotten as high as 24. My max on stock was 26.
I just checked Falken web site. The tire weight is 82.5 lbs. It is heavy AT but you still keep 24 that is amazing!

Wheels are 31 pounds each. I'm pretty astonished myself. I would be very happy with 21 to 20 miles.

I would hope for better MPG tbh. My 3.6/8 speed on 37s with lots of lift, armor, and beadlocks averaged 16.8mpg on a recent road trip. Speeds on the highway were mostly between 75-80.
