Guys, have you noticed, you have to floor the Pentastar to get power out of it, it doesn't do a thing in less than 3000 rpm 😁 And since that Pentastar engineer said frequent WOT runs are good for it so I enjoy reving it, my oil pressure hits 82 psi many times a day 😁
This is interesting.

We had a 2021 Willys JLU with a Mopar lift and 35s. The gearing was 3.45.

I thought the 3.6 had more than enough pep for everything we ended up doing with that particular rig. The only time I ever felt a bit of weakness was when we were on I-70 getting into, and coming through Vail CO at higher speeds. I didn't feel it lacking when we were climbing the trails off road.

I never had to give it much peddle when off road.

We were loaded with 4 people and luggage for a week. It wasn't bad, just a little noticeable.

I've never driven a Wrangler without a lift or 35" tires so I have no idea what a "stock" rig feels like.

I previously drove Chevy 2500 HD crew cab PU trucks. My wife wanted a change after we went down to 1 dog and she got me interested in Jeeps. To me, they feel like rockets compared to the trucks. I had the 6.0 V8 in those trucks. I think they had 365HP. I should drive an unmodified Jeep to see how they feel for fun.

Now we have a 2024 Willys XR JLU with the 2.0T, a Mopar lift and 4.56 gearing.

Whatever I may notice in "pep" could be attributed to the gearing and not the motor. I don't know, and I'm not at all an expert. I don't find I get any better milage with the 2.0T, but again, is it the gearing?

I like both engines and would drive either. I'm having fun with the 2.0 and will be hitting the same route through Vail this summer with more extensive off road adventure plans.

I feel like both motors are very close in performance and seem to fit the Wrangler for our needs.

For those with knowledge; Is gearing something to be taken into consideration when comparing milage between these 2 motors?

I'm sure there are several other factors but my 3.6 with 3.45s may have been better with milage than our 2.0T currently is with 4.56s.

Are you buying a 2025? Or used?

The 3.0 has thr best MPG of any wrangler. They love long drives, and hate short ones, also hate idling. Los angeles will be all idling lol.

We have each, and I’m on my second 2.0. I love both, but prefer the 2.0. When I fire up my 2.0 (38K miles), I don’t hear it inside the Jeep. When I am outside the vehicle after cold startup, all I hear is the direct injection ticking. I don’t have the other noise issues folks speak of.

Just glorious noise. Music to my ears, stereo not required, nor a subscription 😎

Agreed,
I've had both as well. I have no knock on the 3.6 or the 2.0. Both are very close neither is perfect (whatever that is) but they seem to have enough to do the job, at least for my uses.

I do like some of the aftermarket muffler options for the 2.0 but I'm not overly concerned about the sound to the point of going nuts. I actually like the low drone on start up. The pencil sharpener sound isn't awesome but it is what it is. I change the oil and use good stuff as far as I know.

The topic is a dead horse whip as far as motor to motor. I do think the 3.6 can and does sound better. There are some after marker Catback and Axleback options that make the 3.6 sound pretty tough.

Both motors are decent enough, and I would buy either again up to this point.

I like the sound of the Ferrari FXX quite a bit but it doesn't fit my Willys.

Or does it??
