I think the new D44 cover is a 12 bolt pattern. Not sure about the new D35. Have to do more research on that.

That would really suck if Jeep starts installing LSD in the D35. I would mainly pay for the LSD for the D44 axle and A/T tires. If the D44 goes away, they better reduce the price but not likely. It scares me that they no longer list the D44 on the window sticker. Maybe they only included the D44 axle on early builds due to a parts supply shortage. Pure speculation,

I'm gonna trust the build sheet more than the window sticker. It's not like the window sticker says D35 on it. If anyone definitively finds differently please let us know.

It appears the M200 D35 and M220 D44 both have 12 bolt diff covers. Did some research on youtube and took screenshots of both. The D35 is the one sitting on the table. The drain plug surface area makes them pretty easy to distinguish between the two if relying on visual inspection only.

Nope. Dana 35 standard on Sport. Anti spin got you the Dana 44 as well. Mopar parts lists the Dana 35 with and without Trac-Lok.
I was under the assumption the M200 D35 pumpkin didn’t have enough space for the LSD clutch pack and that was the reason Jeep uses the M220 D44 axle because it has the extra space to house the Rubi Lockers. Why Jeep doesn’t just use the new M220 D44 as standard across the line is beyond me. They did for the JK. Now Jeep has three rear axles instead of one. M220 D44 wide, M220 D44 normal and M200 D35. How much $ are they saving by going this route? I realize they want to give Rubi buyers an upgrade and differentiate it from the Sport, but they did that with the new 68” wide axles compared to the 66.5” wide Sport and Sahara axles.

I suppose if you found mopar part numbers for LSD in the M200 D35 then it does fit the D35 pumpkin unless it is an error in the parts listing.

What part # have you found?

I only see one part number for the M200 rear service axle 68391559AA for $2,235 which I assume has the open diff.

There are multiple part numbers for the M220 rear service axle. I found 8 different part # ranging from $2,500 to $3,200. Not sure why there are so many listed. We know of at least two. M220 wide with locker and M220 normal with LSD.

Jeep has always been proud to show Dana 44. Worrisome it is now off build specs and window stickers.

Good find. I share your concern.

Well, this may not be good news for those of us who want the M220 D44 axle with our Sports and haven’t ordered yet. Why wouldn’t Jeep start installing these in the D35 to save money? Unless they plan to use the D35 LSD in the 2 door only.

It could be Jeep used the D44 for early builds simply due to parts shortage. Who knows.

Maybe the new D35 will prove to be as good or better than the outgoing JK D44 axle.

I’m tempted to order now, but given the recent frame weld problems I’ve been reading about, I’m holding out a bit longer maybe until 2019.

Don't know. Only wonder why current JL's shipping no longer state Dana 44HD rear when spec'd with anti spin when LSD fits at least last generation Dana 35. ?

The window sticker doesn't state Dana 44HD but my built sheet says M220. I think this a lot of nothing.

I think the OP is worried FCA is preparing to phase out the .D44 for the Sport. I guess time will tell.

Could it be that the window stickers do not say Dana 44 any longer because technically it’s not a Dana 44 ? it’s an M220 that’s like a dana 44 but not the same. The M series is Dana‘s new series of axles. Maybe they’re not listing it as Dana 30 Dana 35 and Dana 44 to avoid confusion with the Dana 44 in the JK because the parts are not interchangeable.

I know nothing about axles, but it looks like wayoflife JL forum says pretty much the same thing. Was told the guy heading up the site really knows his stuff.
