I been researching lift options and I keep coming back to wanting the minimum amount of lift as possible. Going with Clayton’s new 1.5” universal (2 and 4 door) lift or Metalcloak‘s 2.5” 2 door lift, I’m afraid I will get more lift then desired or needed. I will be replacing the inner fender liners, I hated them from day one and am going with some type of fender chop reinforcement. This will give me much needed clearance for my tires/wheels (315/70r 17 on Methods with 4.75 backspacing).

My primary goal is to get the suspension to handle all the added weight better. To my understanding, my JLR came with the softest springs from the factory (my Jeep came with soft top, plastic bumpers and no tow package). The 4 door JLUR springs equipped with hard top, steel bumpers and towing package are rated higher and should handle the weight much better on my loaded up 2 door. Ideally, I would like to be as close, if not a little more then I was originally at stock height. My Jeep is now equipped with heavy steel bumpers with winch, tire carrier, larger tires, full Undercloak skid, dual batteries, with air compressor, etc. It’s really weighed down the stock suspension. Bottom of my frame is about level with my parents stock JLU Sahara (measured at the same spot) for example.

While researching, I cam across an interesting post by @Kreepin1 in this Thread.

Tough call.

You are a good candidate for 4-door loaded Rubicon springs which would give your about an inch of lift. Here's what I would do:
Synergy Sector Shaft Brace
4-door Rubicon springs (LF/RF 68253661AC/68253662AC and LR/RR 68253591AA/68253592AA)
2 - Mopar lower control arm, Mopar 68322798AA to dial in a bit more caster you lost in the lift
1/2" taller bump stops either through a spacer or something like the Timbrens
To me, this seems like it maybe the perfect combo combined with some upgraded shocks. More so being the Rubicon was supposedly designed to run 35s; so I don’t see the need to lift it much. I do not know my exact weight, I intend to get it weighed after I install the ARB rock sliders that was delivered today.

Any thoughts? I don’t rock crawl, but do off-road/camp regularly and just general long distance exploring.

Jeep currently as it sits with pics of front the springs.

Go scale your front and rear axles after you get the sliders installed. Then compare with the front/rear axles weights for Rubicons at the end of this file. This should give you a pretty good idea if this will work for you.

I never got around to weighing my Jeep; I will eventually. But I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this setup and will post my thoughts sometime next month (won’t have time to do the install until then).

I did talk with @Fatboy97 and he’s running a similar setup he’s happy with.

I'm considering doing the JLUR unlimited swap on my JLR. I'm looking to regain clearance lost when I added the 315/70R17 Tires and get more support for the rear as I use a cargo carrier usually when I travel.

Please comeback and update this as you do anything.

I am very interested in this thread. I can't wait to see pics of how it sits when it is finished.

I just installed the Clayton 1.5 Overland kit onto my '21 JL Willys. I went with Nitto Rigde Grapplers in 285/75r17 - stated to have a diamert of 33.86. For now they are on stock wheels which results in 33 1/4" of diameter. The lift resulted in ~2.5 inches of lift on my non-rubicon.

I had the same goal as you - give me just enough to stuff 33-34s under stock flares and offset bumper/winch/sliders/me. After a couple hundred of miles, I am very happy with the setup. It rides and handles great both on-road and off.

Thanks to @Fatboy97’s assistance I’l be doing mine soon. He’s running JLUR suspension and 1/2 inch spacers. I plan to start with just the JLUR suspension and go from there. I’m trying to avoid changing LCAs… but we will see.

Interesting, I was under the under the impression the 1.5” on the 2 door would be over 2” and probably closer 2.5”.

I mostly wanted to avoid a front drive shaft. While I could probably get away with it, I just don’t want to find out I need one in the field.

I have everything together, it’s sitting there ready to go... But I been a bit lazy and it’s super hot/humid. I’m also getting things setup for new job and moving out of state sometime next month. I would like to get this done before the move though.

I did get the sliders on, so I did do something!

FWIW, I was parked last week next to a stock JLR with hard top and steel bumpers. My soft top/plastic bumper JL with 60/61 and 90/91 springs from a JLUR was about 1" taller measured at the side mirror.

Looks great, can’t wait to see it with the new setup. I’m probably going to go in the same direction, but I’d like to see yours first. Haha

I went with those exact JLUR springs (hard top, steel bumpers and towing package) and added the 2.5 RC Spacers. My 315's look perfect. I'm not as weighted as you will be but the ride quality is pretty much the same as the stock sport setup. FYI... this is a Sport with Sahara flares. Your Rubicon flares will give you more clearance and may be good for the extra settled weight / height.
