no, I never did get that 4:1 t-case. Work, covid, family, hell just laziness got in the way.
plus I bought a ‘04 TJR I have been into and may use to wheel.
I still love my JL though!
Haha relatable. Well clearly you've enjoyed your Jeep well enough without it, figure ill make all the upgrades I want and save that one for last and see if it's even needed. Thanks for all the info you've provided in this thread since you started it! Very helpful for my own research.

Regearing was the best upgrade I did. I have 35”s now and the 4.56s are great.
but if I did it over I’d go 4.88!
I’ll be honest, I wheel with some Rubicon JLs (stock) and JKURs and I have no trouble controlling my low speed crawling. I’d like the 4:1 tcase, but I’d rather swap my rear limited slip out for a locker first.

Why would you go with 4.88 if doing it over again? For even better crawl ratio at some expense to highway rpm’s? Do you feel 4.56 lacks power at any time? Have seen some posts saying 4.88 is a bit too much gear, though many are happy with that setup.

35s and 4.88 would be overkill and your 1st gear shift would be instant IMO. I already start out in 2nd unless I’m at a completely dead stop. Only reason to go 4.88 is if you’re already thinking 37’s. Even then, you can still wheel with 4.56’s and 37s.

I understand what JeepJunkie is getting at about 4.88s. With this tranny, there is no need to fear the gear. I ordered my wife’s Rubicon with 4.88 gears. IMO, it is awesome in stock form with 4.88s and 33s. I was originally going to go straight to 35s, but it’s so much fun with the 33s, she is going to wear those out first and may even stick with 33s long term.
Sure, 1st gear is low and I quickly shift out of it driving hers, but you get used to it.
