Have a 2019 sport 6 speed manual. Looking to regear as it sucks on 34’s (305/70/17). You really gotta search for power and do a lot of downshifting. It has a 3.5” rough country lifts well. It goes off road but not too much. Main desire to regear is for on road use. 4.56 or 4.88? And what manufacturer?? The Jeep is my wife’s. I have a Toyota... so I’m new to Jeeps.

4.56 gears would be ideal and a big improvement over your current 3.45 gears. 4.88 with your tire size will run a little higher rpm at 70+mph and will hurt HWY MPG's. If you dont plan on going bigger than 35s, the math says 4.56 is plenty of gear.

I have a 6 speed and previously went from 3 45 to 4.10 gears with 315/70/17 tires and it needed a little more gearing. 4.56 would be perfect.

I have 4.56s on 35s and I have a 6 speed.
It‘s a great set up, 2500 revs at 75 mph in 6th. I never have to downshift on the highway (Maryland has some hills, but nothing crazy) and can go 60 mph in 6th gear without lugging the engine.

I just have the 2.0T AT, 4.56 gears, and 35s. Nice to have 7th and 8th gears back! I’ll move to 37s when my 35s wear out, which will be ideal. BTW, I’m getting 19 mpg over 8+ tanks of fuel, with a lot of driving at 65 mph.

I realize your post is a bit older but... Hows the pep with that setup? I am in the same boat and on the fence with 4.56 or 4.88. I rhink the 4.88 will just be too short of a gear for commuting and trips. Plan on staying with 35s to save axle damage. I would like 37s, as they look much better, but dont want all the troubles and longevity issues that i have been told come with them... what rpms are you turning at 75-80mph with 35s? Did you move to 37s yet?

Hi there ... my acceleration is excellent out of the hole, and lots of pep for passing. I would tend to agree that 4.88s will be too short and an issue on the highway. If I move to 37s, I will get a lighter tire, e.g., the Nitto 37 Terra is lighter than the Nitto 35 Ridge ... note I only have 16,000 miles on my Ridges and have been rotating every 5,000 miles. At 75 mph I’m turning 2200 rpms which is ideal ... I can leave it in 8th gear with plenty of pull.

37x13.5r20 (36.8") Kumho road venture MT, the sirection version, will be here saturday (83lbs). 4.56 Gearing goes in next week. I guess we'll see how it goes. I am thinking i will be turning closer to 2k at 75-80. Hoping the 4.56 is enough. I just dont want to be turning 2500 all the time and if I dont like the 37s and go back to 35s at some point I will still be ok. Right now I am 3.45 with the 35" version of the same tire and pull 1700 rpm in 8th at 75ish. Still has pep but suffers in 7th and 8th.

It’s been a few months … did you get the 4.56 and 37s installed? Are you happy with the rpms, etc.?

Pretty happy but unless you like to drive 75-85 everyday, i could have lived with 4.88. 4.56 and A8 trans with the 37s (~36.5 when correcting the speedo) will turn about 2250ish at 75-80. It sees 8th regularly as it should, downshifts for hills and performs well. Plenty of pep and the trans isnt shifting all over the place. Never owned it stock but it brives and shifts like all of the other FCA vehicles I have owned with the A8. I probably should have gone 4.88 but didnt wqnt to turn 2500-2800 as others have said when on the highway. But if you think about it this is a 4 cylinder engine and that would be completely normal. So in reality I'm probably just wishing for V8 highway RPM Instead of being more realistic. The other reality is that I already want to go 40s but dont want to regar and build the axles, lol. I am staying where I am at for now as it works very well with swaybar discos and the stock axles. In summary I am happy with 4.56, average about 16-17mpg in mixed driving and I am definitely NOT trying to get mpg whrn driving, lol, probably the opposite. I would have been happy with 4.88 too and would probably recommend that.

I would like to re-gear to 4.56. Should I go with the Dana/Spicer gears or is there another brand that is an upgrade? Thank you.

I consider Dana/Spicer top shelf. You can save money with other brands and other brands might be as good but it's tough to beat their quality.
