Starting my 2020 Punk'n JLUR build. So far I have had an interesting journey with the JL, but there is nothing on the market that compares.

some of the lift and components may be swapped as I am waiting to see how the wheels and tires fit with all the skids etc. on. I will build it out to handle high speed desert runs, and technical trails with moderate rock crawling.

My 2018 was one of the early JLs with bad frame welds, way out of spec. ordered a 2019 to replace it. had the 2019 for 5 months, but it had a few issues that caused FCA to request a repurchase. now on to a 2020. even with the issues I have had, still really enjoy the JL platform and that's why I did not have any concern with ordering another.

Fox Factory Race ATS steering stabilizer and Teraflex Alpha HD spare tire carrier on its way, and confirmed that I am going to try out the Motobilt JLU full underbelly skid system with boat sides instead of Metalcloak this go around. I liked my Metalcloak, but wanted to try the Motobilt out.

Undecided on Tires and Wheels at this point. I ordered some Dirty Life 9303, but were damaged by UPS so did not keep them. Also was set on the Ridge Grapplers, but may go with the KO2s on factory wheels as winter is near and they do very well in the snow. Then next spring I will be ready for something else on aftermarket wheels.

Teraflex Alpha HD spare tire carrier and Mopar Tailgate reinforcement installed. Also put my metalcloak rear differential skid on. All that remains of the first set of parts is my Poison Spyder Bruiser stubby bumper and warn zeon 10s winch. I planned to put that on but the KC Gravity led fog lights did not work out so waiting on a set of Rigid cubes to come in.

Love the Teraflex alpha hd. Great quality and i was able to get the tire tucked nice and tight to the tailgate.

Poison Spyder Bruiser bumper and skid plate, warn zeon 10s winch, factor 55 fairlead, warn epic sidewinder shackle, and rigid Led fog lights installed to complete the exterior / body updates and recovery solution.

now to decide on lift and new wheels and tires.

a few new pictures of my progress. now sitting on 35s and a Mopar 2" lift. currently running Clayton off-road Trwck bars and UCAs, but may swap out the front track bar soon due to steering wheel feedback / vibration. it is a very nice built track bar, but I think the Johnny joint on one end transmits a lot more feedback than others. it's tough as off-road it's amazing, but when driving 8 hours on the highway the nvh gets a bit old.

After having my first 2 JLURs bought back, I was not sure what type of luck I would have with my 3rd. I wanted to give it some time before I went all in to make sure it was trouble free. Unlike the first 2, this Jeep has been great. Since I live in AZ, have an Orange Rubicon, and the fact that this my 3rd attempt at a JLUR I finally settled on a name. Meet The Dark Phoenix.
