Hi All, first of all, great thread!

I am planning to put an XR 392 springs and shocks to 2023 Wrangler unlimited 4 door Willys Sport XR 2.0T with tow package, soft top and plastic bumpers. My whole plan is to add steel bumpers and winch and not have sag. I see basic weight difference between non XR models of Willys Sport and 392 being 238 pounds and I don't mind a slightly stiffer ride. Is this an idea worth considering?

What do you all feel like ride and handling after the suspension settled? more or less body roll? stability under braking?

Also I am swapping XR to XR, do you all recommend Mopar LCAs? thanks.

IIRC the main weight difference in the 392 is front axle, so you may see more height there.

If the weight difference is just 238 pounds between models, then I don’t see the point. The difference between mine and a 392 was around 600 pounds. I gained a net height of about 2” with steel bumper and winch. I’ll say if you get the 392 suspension cheap, then do it and see what happens. If there is no change, then you can either keep it that way or sell the suspension.

I added non-XR 392 spings/shocks/LCA's to my stock 3.6L JLUR w/ steel bumpers, winch, and soft top and saw a 2.5" lift in the front, and a 1" lift in the back. I later added a Teraflex 1.5" spacer to the rear to level it out. The ride is a bit stiffer, with less body roll, but is still comfortable to ride in all day and tracks WAY straighter with the longer LCA's and Fox steering stabilizer (that I also added).

I bought a set of 392 non XR springs / shocks and he also gave me the track bars and front control arms. I don't think the track bars or control arms are anything different than stock so I'm not going to swap those. I have a 2018 JLUR w/3.6 to which I added steel bumpers and the Mopar lift front lower control arms. After adding the bumpers, the Jeep was lower than with the plastic and is the reason I bought these, to gain that height and then some back.

The Part Numbers are:
Front Spring1: 68481300AE / 2242021 / 30583B
Front Spring2: 68547087AA / 59091 - this one was hard to read
Rear Spring1: 68481302AC / 30583B
Rear Spring2: 68481303AB / 30583B
Front Track Bar: P68567861AA / T00243113019
Rear Track Bar: P68480854AA / T00239121079
Front Upper Control Arm1: P68461228AA
Front Upper Control Arm2: P68461229AA
Front Lower Control Arms: P68250242AB

Do you know which location these springs go?
Also, seller thought the Front upper control arms were special in some way to help with the taller suspension. Has anyone found this to be true?

Thank you
Marc

Here's how the springs were installed on the 392:

Front Driver: 68481300
Front Passenger: 68547087
Rear Driver: 68481302AC
Rear Passenger: 68481303AB

This is a great thread and tons of useful information which helped me a lot! I want to share how everything went for me as well!

I recently picked up a set of 392 XR take off suspensions, 35'' tires and other goodies. Big thanks to @7.62x392 for all parts and easy transaction! He has an amazing build of his 392XR!

For a 4 door Sports S with steel front bumper, no winch, soft-top, steel steps/sliders, Rubi high clearance fender (front only), this suspension lifted the front about 3.25'' and 2.5'' for the rear, but the jeep is now perfectly leveled. Adding another 1'' from the tire (my old tire was 33 KO2), it turned out to be quite a lift for the price.

I was a bit nervous of it being too high which might lead me to replace track bar, drag links etc. I also have those parts from the 392XR take off, but they measure the same length as what Sports have. If they are significantly better, please let me know and I will swap them on. All control arms are the same lengths as Sports, so I followed everyone's suggestion to get longer LCA from Mopar kit which is about 1/4'' longer. TBH, you can't tell them apart unless measuring.

Alignment shows caster is 3.8 which is not ideal. The ride is bumpier than my stock sports as expected, but it tracks straight, no pulling, no shimmy feelings after ~800 miles. The shop just had me in for a re-torque check, and everything is fine. I am very happy with this "lift" and XR take off tires which measured at just shy of 34''. Picture shows the front wheel well has more room than the rear, that's due to Rubi fenders vs sports fender at the back.

I hope this helps others who are considering 392 XR lift option.

My Axel is perfectly centered from tape measurements and it drives normal. What are some signs that I need to consider to upgrade steering component?

Looks great! Some good info here too. Glad to see my 392’s stock suspension is getting a second life, enjoy it!

they measured 33.x before being mounted ? Should be 34.25 at least ish unless they were significantly used.

The tires had about 8,500 miles when I took them off and are in near perfect shape, have a ton of tread life, and one was brand new. KO2s run very small. All tires run smaller than the advertised size. My “38 inch” Nitto ridge grapplers that I replaced these very KO2s with were only 36.5” before mounting, even though they say 37.75” on the Nitto website.

Same here. I would swap my Eco-Diesel shocks to the 392 shocks in a heartbeat if I could find a set to do so.
I’ve got the full takeoff of my 392 if you’re still interested?

KO2 are running small for sure. I just measured the brand new 315/70/17 which is about 33.5'' on the ground with 32psi.
