It could get 6mpg and I'd still buy one
While I don't care about fuel costs, personally, at 6mpg, you'd be filling up at the gas station at a little over 100 miles in the JLU, and well under 100 miles if it were offered in the 2-door. That might get old for many.

I care about mpg whether I pay $6,000 or $60,000 for a vehicle. The two have absolutely NOTHING to do with each other. Not a deal breaker on the 392, but I’ll mostly drive like a granny to use the least Dino juice no matter what I drive. Any money I save in gas burning into air is just more money I can invest, so as to be able to write checks for things like Rubicons instead of having creditors finance the thing and take even more of my money. People would be a lot better off to learn this instead of wearing it like a badge of courage when they proudly say they get 3 mpg due to their driving habits. For Pete’s sake.

I wonder if it has 4 cyl mode? My 392 Challenger could get 27 calculated hwy at 70mph...well over advertised mpg and no hyper miling.

I personally will pay no attention to the MPGs. Like I tell my kids - "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit".

In reality it will be 9 or so or course for those 3.6 people that claim they get 30 with their 3.6 those folks will get like 23 in their 392's. I wish this was legit as that is what I get with my 3.6 2018 JLUR and I don't drive aggressive.
Yeah, I'm averaging 17 with the 3.6 in Rubicon form.

17 highway? Flat road going 45 behind a truck maybe. i think realistically (most people) these even stock get 10-11 on the highway and 7-8 city. Can’t say I’d get any better - I wouldn’t keep my foot out of it either.

my TJ with a 5.7 in it and 5 speed got 14-15 going 60-65 mph — less aero dynamic of course though but similar overdrive gear. My JK with a blown 427 gets 7-8 highway going 60-65 if I really grandma it.

EPA Highway mileage doesn’t test any speed above 60MPH and the average speed is around 50MPH. This is why wrangler owners with our “unique” aerodynamics don’t typically see the EPA highway ratings on the freeway.

I going to extend my 392's mpg by 10-15%, it's only going to get non-ethanol. Went non-ethanol years ago and never went back.

HA I fully expect close to 10mph combined on 37s and beadlocks.

I think people buying the 392 would love to have awesome fuel millage, but I don't think anyone that buys one expects it...;)

Similar to people who have wranglers already but are swapping V8's, if they worried about fuel millage, they wouldn't be swapping...;)

Well it becomes somewhat of an issue in a two door less in a four door. Concern isn’t cost related.

Where do you find it? Seems like everything around here has ethanol in it.

Agreed.

For the people buying the 392, the annoyance won’t be paying out the gas money, it’ll be having to take time out of your day to gas up every 5 days and twice to make a 4 hour trip. Also, knowing how many, and locations of, gas stations along the route on longer trips.

My previous 16’ G63 got similar MPG premium (12mpg combined) but had a small-ass gas tank which was my only gripe with the truck. My current 20’ G550 on 3” taller tires than stock gets 13mpg premium combined but has a much larger tank and therefore is much easier to live with.

I think 392 owners will just have to figure out how to have additional onboard gas for longer drives through sparsely populated areas like some stretches of Arizona, Utah, ect.
